Juicy, plum, a bit of white pepper and roast meat. Mellow.

Great wine. Loads of life left and nice big fruit with a complex palate off earth, berties and coffee.

Drank over three days. On the first day the mid tones were closed and the wine mostly showed overripe red plums. Also the wine was a little hot. By the third day there were some nice sweet earth components and leafiness in the nose. The fruit was more balanced and the alcohol has integrated as well. Needs more time?

Hmm… looking back at my tasting note from October 2009, I'm wondering WTF? "Light?" No. At least not this bottle. Big, fruit-forward and anything but subtle. The alcohol seems more prominent here. Loads of red cherry, red current and red everything else. Not sure there is much evolution left, so drink now.

This is at the top of its game (her game actually!). If I had a half case or more, I would drink it on the bell-shape-curve. If i had only one bottle - I would drink it now.

Agree with a couple of the recent reviews... a little young still and a little heavy on the alcohol at times. Still a great wine and a great wine family from Spring Valley Vineyard. I had the honor of having dinner with the winemaker last fall in Walla Walla and their is passion in making this wine. SVV is home of big bold wines and they never let you down.

This was a big wine that showed shades of a port or an Aussie shiraz yet also kept from being over the top and hid its alcohol pretty well. Grapey with blackberry, vanilla, anise and pepper. Quite good but I scored the '04 better at about the same age.

A great Washington red. Notes of red cherry, raspberry, currant & chocolate. My wife said a bit of iron as well. Very easy to drink. No heat from the alcohol in any way. Open now or in the next two or three years.

Odd experience with this one. Slow O'ed for 10 hrs before serving. Once served there was a distinct herbal quality on the nose and palate. Within minutes of pouring, however, this facet disappeared entirely leaving pronounced oak vanilla flavors mixed with the dark cherry flavors of ripe syrah. I'm going to wait at least another 12 months before opening another bottle with the hope that things integrate better. However, I'm concerned that the high alcohol will effect the balance of …

Lighter than I remember from our tasting, when we bought a couple of bottles. Still really nice. Nose has cherry & currant. Good mouthfeel, with cherry most prominent.

Ste. Michelle Wine Estates (MUSE) : Have had great experience with the reds from this estate, lets see how the Syrah holds up: lean nose with light red berries, cherry. Fairly simple nose really. Palate is medium bodied, medium tannins, and overall medium intensity. Where is the punch? Somewhat toasted oak, light amount of spices, pretty much just fades away. I expected more power, or at least intensity of fruit, concentration.
