opaque color. New world ripe nose. Fruit showing restraint on palate. Medium plus grippy tannin, balancing acidity. Alcohol lingers a bit on lengthy finish. Less of the usual green streak for this bottling but I get a hint of menthol. Good substance but lacking excitement for me. After drinking 5 different vintages of this over the last few years I believe better values lie elsewhere.

Opaque, deep purple: stains the glass. Macerated blackcurrants and brambles on the nose, with quite a dose of tarry oak too. Quiet sweet. Surprisingly short. Fine tannins, and not too many of them. I was expecting more: not a bad wine, but needs more acid, more length to be really outstanding.
