Domaine Drouhin-Laroze Bonnes Mares

Short decant. High toned nose of cranberries and red currants. Bracing minerality. After 20 minutes, the wine calmed down and fleshed out. Elegant, long finish of at least 20 seconds. Perfect acidity. Really excellent BM which will only get better in the next 10 years and last way beyond that. Impressive.

Wines from Asparagus Summerhill dinner. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intnsity, with aromas of intoxicating dark red flowers, violets, ripe red cherries, dark red berries. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), supple well structured medium tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of ripe red cherries, dark red berry fruits, bit of dark red plums, integrated woody toast oak with spices, wild gamey meat, …

Great wine, entering the start of its drinking window. Vibrant red and black fruits, good length, good minerality. Such striking aromatics. Will definitely age for many years more. Slow-oxed for 5 hours and drank over dinner. Lovely.

Still very youthful with deep colour and layers of flavour but I intend to hold my final bottle for another decade as this is still a baby and I'm sure there is still bags to come, interestingly outshone on the night by the 2019 vintage of the same wine served alongside it

Very much what I’d expect from a GC at this price point. Complex nose of cloves, cherries, wood, earth evolves over time. Already well integrated, tannins are fine grained and are felt on the finish. Silky mouthfeel. Paired beautifully with roasted baby lamb joints on a bed of potatoes, and views from Le Châble. This should drink well for another 10 years

Purple fruit, very bright, almost candied. Strong intensity of flavor and with good purity. Not huge density but drinks well.

Terrific depth of colour, wonderful intensity and layers of fruit. Fresh acidity gives super freshness, depth f fruit is super as is length - best kept for another decade to see complexity but already delicious.

Opened 4 hours before with quick decant. Nice enough but didn't have the intensity or length of a GC. Admittedly the last glass was the best but still well short of what I expected. 5 bottles left, will leave a couple of years.

Rich and quite powerful Bonnes Mares. Plums and I think also red berries. Very nice structured. Very good.

Burgundy 2010 Tasting - Justerini & Brooks, London (London) : Whispy light and ethereal on the nose and palate but with great persistence - great acidity - some seriously good fruit here that lifts this up beyond the palate and nose into something much more regal and refined. If only I could afford it. Will be quite special in a decade.

Quite reticent and closed but there are hints of real quality here on the nose; lovely balance on the palate. Gorgeous. 91-93.
