Starting to show it's age. Still very good, but more mature than I expected. Darker color and some caramel notes. I've had a lot of older Aubert Chards that showed less signs of age, so this was a bit of a surprise to me. Purchased off auction, so storage may be an issue.

Dinner at Chaoshan : These wines are hit or miss for me but this was a miss. Ripe and round with tropical fruit that included banana. Buttery oak, waxy texture and noticeably high alcohol - very much a caricature of new-world Chard.

Truly spectacular elegant Chardonnay. Bright peach and wildflower nose with dazzling acidity and a medium long finish. Hard to believe this is 11 years old. Shows no sign of slowing down and it a great place now.

Very rich and multi-layered wine; it can also be described as a bit heavy and extracted. Really ripe with tropical & stone fruits, plus white flowers and white pepper. Significant oak influence and very creamy from the full ML treatment. Coming to the end of its time of drinkability, but it might last another year or two depending on the bottle. I have two more bottles that I will be uncorking by the end of this year.

Our last bottle, and possibly its strongest showing, full-bodied with an unctuous texture, and a lovely balance between citrus and herbal notes. Now is a good time to check in.

Wow. Amazing. Rich, deep flavors of white fruits like pear, peach, apple and even a hint of banana. Unctuous. But what allows white wine to age more? I'm not so good with figuring that out. But, i disagree that this is at the end. I would have left this another year if i had more, but i only had a single from auction. This was worth every penny, for sure, with no danger of imminent expiration. I'll get more if …

Good, but drink up. This is approaching the end of its drinking window. Still good, but the odds of this getting overly oxidized are better than the odds of it getting more secondary flavors.

Drinking beautifully right now -- still youthful and vibrant and crisp (especially compared to 2014 Lauren which shows much more signs of oxidation).

Mistakenly drank my last 14. This is absolutely wonderful, even better than the standard spectacular Aubert chardonnay. Buttery oak, ripe white fruit, pear-lemon and smooth, pleasing long finish.

Kevin and Vicki's 40th Wedding Anniversary (Medoc Room at Meritage) : Drank a medium-sized glass over 45 minutes. This wine really gets your attention with light butterscotch, lemon, white flowers and fresh green herbs. The balance between the full-body and the ample acidity is harmonious. I'm trying to understand the different Aubert bottlings because they sometimes seem typical California "big fruit, over-oaked" and sometimes like this bottle they are completely harmonious.

40th Wedding Anniversary Celebration - Round 2 (Meritage, St. Paul) : Small glass. We've ha this bottle a couple of times and its always been impressive. But tonight - it made me raise my eyebrows even further. This spot on in the zone. Just amazing, mango, tangerine, toasty, river rock, long and crazy spiced on the finish. Loved it!! Thanks Robes. 95+ to 96pts.

Brought to a restaurant, decanted; consumed at cellar temperature. This was, in the opinion of a couple of diners, the best white wine they've ever had. I can't disagree: this was drinking as perfectly as can be. Lovely aromatics and a beautiful blend of apricot, lemon, and white flowers. As delicious as ten-year-old Chardonnay gets. Could go another year or maybe even two, but why wait?

Tasting in Miami (Ken's Castle) : PnP - Chardonnay doesn't get much better than this! In an ideal spot right now (at least this bottle!) I typically love these Chardonnays at about 8 years, but maybe I have been drinking them too young! On a more serious note, this wine was absolutely delicious! Nose showed some tropical fruits, poached pear, straw, slate citrus and spice. Palate was equally compelling with plenty of apple, melon, vanilla, some chalk, slate and sweet, …

Pours a deep golden yellow in the glass, the nose beckoning with grilled pineapple (and a touch of banana) flambé. On the palate, very generous with smoky pineapple, meringue, toasted almond, and minerality. This is the first California chardonnay we've had to come close to emulating meursault. Agree this will remain excellent for the next year or two. One left.

Shared cooking duties with 5 close buddies each doing a course at our place. Thankfully, Nita helped keep me on track. CV,DM,LI,KB,LS & BB. Super relaxing fun night! Kevin's blt served alongside my stellar '11 Lafon Meursault Clos de La Barr. This shows a little oak but mostly resolved and very classy CA Chardonnay from our version of Grand Cru vineyards. Really appreciated the balance and restraint here. Thanks Kevin!

Chef's Night (Craig & Nita's Place) : Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour plus. Drank this next to a stellar '11 Lafon Meursault CdB and it was up to the task. Both wines were great frankly, with similarities and differences. The Aubert shows a ovely sea air nose with fresh cut melon, fennel, spiced pear, creme brulee, and a tangerine infused pastry cream. The palate is full bodied and light on its feet with excellent acidity, a …

Thanksgiving in New Hope with the family : Last bottle of the 2014 vintage, Thanksgiving always a good reason to open Valerie's favorite Chardonnay...:) Slight chill, opened for 30 minutes prior to drinking. From prior notes:"Medium yellow gold color. Nose showing apricot, honey, citrus/pineapple, white flowers. Pop and pour. Largely consistent with our previous bottles, although I'd say this has filled out from its early lean Chablis-like days, and now comes across as a full-bodied chard, with the emphasis on energetic lemon and secondary herbal/spice elements (cloves, herbes de provence). We still have one more bottle left, but this has been a fun shapeshifter to follow throughout its life cycle.

Shimmering light gold in color. PNP, split bottle over 3 hours plus. The nose really jumps out at you, blissful pear, tangerine and touches of peach creme brulee, white plumeria, and wispy minerality with some burnished oak that slowly fades further into the background. The palate is lovely too, well layered with tangerine oil, pear panna cotta, Meyer lemon, oak toast, peach, creme brulee,, stone mineral notes, just a little nutty, and very long while being quite light on its …

From past tastings, this has lost a lot of the rich fruit of youthful Aubert. For my taste these are better in the first few years. Then again, I believe this bottling leans away from decadent fruit towards citrus and finesse.

My score is a bit restrained. Delicious high quality chardonnay as per usual. Has nice minerality. Nose of tropical fruit, brioche and wet rocks. Nice full mouth feel and finish as is typical for Aubert and big california chards, but nice balance and lean mineral core of limestone, and wet clam shells. Not quite the lift, expansiveness and complexity of other Aubert chardonnays I've had.

Excellent wine and one of the best Chards I have had in a long time. It's hard to cellar such an amazing wine, but it was worth the wait. Apricot and citrus on the nose and palette and refreshing and full bodied mouth feel. I opened about an hour before serving and the time paid off.

PnP.....drank two glasses over an hour. This Aubert was flaunting its stuff! The nose featured tropical fruits, white flowers, some sea breeze and limestone. The minerality and tropical fruits stole the show this time around, and the oak was much more subdued. Pear was still very much present, tart apple seemed to give way to more tropical fruits, including pineapple, guava and papaya, with some Meyers Lemon also lurking in the background, along with vanilla and toasted oak. The palate …

Light golden color. Perhaps slight oxidation to this bottle. Flavors of apple, citrus, with that touch of oxidative flavor that isn't off-putting yet but makes it come off more as a more mature Chardonnay. Tasted side by side with the 2013 Larry Hyde, which was much more youthful and fresh. Five bottles were opened, all with this same appearance, so perhaps that's what's going on with this wine at this point.
