Previous bottle must have been faulty, as this, my final bottle of this vintage, is brilliant. BBQ pinapple, touch of caramel. Rich, but there is enough acidity to keep it fresh. Odd years seem to be kind to Te koko (01 and 03 were stunning). No need to keep, but its bit falling apart either.

Not quite up to scratch. The nose is still as exotic and lovely as any other Te Koko, but it was a bit acidic and lean on the finish. Screw cap, so no cork taint. Maybe age catching up with it ? Could be, but even if it was just a slightly off bottle, this is not a wine to keep any longer.

This is undoubtedly the best sauvignon blanc I've ever had. It tastes like a blend of aged chardonnay and sweet sauvignon blanc. The nose is so unique that you just can't stop smelling it. I see some other people noting cat pee on the nose. These people must not have cats, because this smells nothing like cat pee. Identifié comme californien, il me faisait penser aux SB de Mondavi. On comprend mal qu'un vin tel vin soit vendu plus cher que la cuvée régulière, si ce n'est que de positionner cette cuvée à l'élevage luxueux dans un certain marché. Le Sauvignon se retrouve dénaturé par la barrique, l'alcool est trop présent et l'ensemble apparait mou et mal définit. Bof, comme disait Mies Van Der Rohe : "less is more".

A deft hand on the oak reminding of the slightly oxidative (and aromatically complex) Fruilian sauvignon from Vie di Romans. Carmelized citrus if you will. Really good wine. Not quite as flashy as the Momo but that was probably not the intention.

New Zealand (Waterford Wines Milwaukee) : here you get the richness of fruit not present in the other 3 NZ savvies tasted this evening. hot sticky pineapple, but not quite the syrup-y as the chalk hill SB. Waterford Staff Attack (Waterford Wines Milwaukee) : Displays such an elegant style for new zealand. the grapefruit is there, but so subtle. The wine was exactly as I remembered it - with nose of green apple, muscat grapes, mineral and flint. After an hour I detected some sweet butter on the nose. There was lots of crisp acidity but it was pleasantly balanced.
