Still quite lively with the tannin and tart cranberry, some cherry on the back end. The nose is very earthy like a very wet Oregon forest! This can (hopefully) smooth out in a few more years but if you like the younger side of pinot, drink it up!

W spicy turkey tortilla's. Good color, bit flat nose. Fruit handled the spicy food very well. Mid way thru this was watery but after 3 hrs it worked very well and became wine. Maybe this needs 3 more years lying down.

Dissappointing given the price. Not bad, but not as good as it should be. The acids and tanins have faded significantly, leaving the wine tasting a bit flat and lacking in complexity. Fruit continued to hold up well, but not enought to make up for the other short-comings.

There is a balance of dark berry and strawberry fruits, fine raciness, and sweet tannins. There is a definite richness to this wine although the character is firm.

Takes a few minutes to open but then the cola and roots leave a mature pinot stain and offer shifting complexity. I wish the finish had a tad more fruit for its alcohol. Drink now ... and probably a good time to drink the Oregon ‘06s.

Had at an Oregon wine tasting. Clearly a nice step up from the entry level wine which was good. Deeper more complex with great aromatics and a very long finish. Too good to taste and spit. Not as bold as Kosta Brown and made in a style very similar to Ken Wright.

Pity that "pape du neuf" did not have a chance to taste an untainted bottle of this wine. Simply delicious, medium body, delightfully generous red fruit flavors. Thank you, Doug Wilder, for recommending it years ago! Food friendly. Pity also I have only three more bottles left.

Simply Fantastic! Perfectly balanced. Not too heavy, not too light. Good fruit, good earth, good spice, nice length, some oak on the nose. Good to drink by itself and with food. Excellent complement with our wild salmon. Wish I had more than one left. Highly recommend.

Popped and poured, then finished over the next couple nights. Initial aroma was black pepper, and there was a taste I'd never had in a wine before...cumin. The second night, it had dropped some of the cumin and the following night was just a subtle pepper taste along with some black cherry. I would suggest holding off on this, or perhaps decanting for an hour or so.

What a disappointment! One professional reviewer (who gave it a 93) referenced a "balsamic" note. Maybe I'm over sensitive, or maybe this was an atypical bottle, but the VA was the first thing I noticed upon pulling the cork, and overwhelmed everything else going on in the wine. I'd suspect the bottle of being heat damaged, except that I bought it at release and kept it in a constantly cool cellar ever since. Otherwise, lots of plummy over ripe fruit. …

This wine really continues to impress me. This bottle did not start out so pretty as previously; rather it seemed to have a wild blackberry, peat, cured meats, Burgundian sauvage character. Very expressive, masculine, even sexed up, but somehow always held in a balanced boundary. This wine just seems to carry an internal tension and energy that begs to be released and experienced to complete itself. Love it.
