Amazing wine that is past prime unfortunately. I purchased 3 bottles a couple years ago. Drank first bottle for a friend’s birthday April 2024 and it was fantastic 94 points. Drank second bottle in mid November for business dinner. Still good but past prime 92 points. Drank my last bottle on Christmas Day 90 points. Still drinkable but a sourness that was not there in previous bottles. These are fading fast. Drink ASAP if you still have em.

Smells of port. And not a good port. Bad bottle

1999 vintage. LH and KH brought this from their cellar and shared this at the Mindi Abair concert. It's a Rutherford vineyard so it goes without saying that it was pretty darn good

Great fruit, blackberry, cassis, well integrated tannins, long finish, drinking very well, still youthful, has not developed secondary character yet

Coravin 1/2 hour prior to dinner Similar to the last bottle. Perfectly fine. Decent balanced wine with fruit still present. Just not up to other Staglin vintages. And definitely not a good value.

Vibrant and youthful, good fruit remaining and full body with smooth and balanced finish.

HUGE wine. Ink-dark color, dark magenta to the rim - no signs of bricking. Blackberries, ripe plum, leather and notes of wood and cedar on the nose. Sweet plum, blackberries, ox blood on the palate with sweet black licorice on the finish. Tannins are granular and sweet. Great wine with a grilled steak. Still has plenty of shelf life.

Surprised how young this was. Bottle was well maintained. Can’t remember details now but enjoyed with ribeye. I preferred the 2009 the 1999.

Appearance-wise, this is still young. Absolutely no brown around the edges. On the pallet, it seemed like it is quite faded. Opened up a bit, but there was no wow factor.

This didn't measure up to other vintages of Staglin that I have had in the past. Although some of that may have been due to the fact it was a PnP or that it followed the Jimsomore, it still didn't measure up to the Staglin standard. To be fair, it did improve as time went on, so maybe a good decant would have helped. Still have one bottle so we will see.

Perfectly mature. Leather. Berries. Tar. Fruit but not too forward.

Tannins are still very present. Great jammy flavor. Drinking very well now but has time left in it.

Drank as part of a 1996-1999 vertical. Last of the tasting. Surprisingly spry. Would never guess this is 15 years old if tasted blind. Assertive, bold fruit. Delicious. Should last for 5-10 more years.

- Brick color with a medium body with a long finish - What a great surprise. Smooth and the fruit still vibrant. It could have gone a few more years. One bottle left so I'm going to wait. Rich, dark and complex. All you could want from old style Napa.

Not much has changed since my tasting note from six years ago, but I was way off on the drinking window. This wine remains youthful and vibrant. Everything is in harmony, as it was six years ago, and everything remains in harmony. Lush, blackberry and black currant, tobacco, even a little oriental spice. My last bottle, alas, as I was convinced this bottling would not hang in for the long haul. Drink or hold for another five years.

dark purple - black currant, unsweetened cocoa, graphite and black currant on nose. This is in a great place and was tasty upon first pour and evolved into a beauty. While offering pleasure today, this can easily age for another 5 years. One bottle left, revisit in a few years.

Mature and drinking well with a couple of hours of air time, this was a very nice, if somewhat simple, Cali cabernet. Typical black fruited cab flavor profile with enough tannin remaining to hold the wine together. Oak is integrated and 14.5 abv is not at all overt. An enjoyable wine, just much more expensive than it should be.

Drank this out of 1.5ltr at Bistro Jeanty in Yountville with Steak Frites. Needed about 20 -30 mins to open up. Drank great. Still some fruit taste. Drink up now.

Decanted for 90 minutes. Dark purple color. Nose of black raspberry with minerality. Nice structure with linearity between mid-palate and finish. Well balanced with fruit and acidity playing against the black rock in the background. Wine should continue to evolve of next 5 years. Very well made.

This really smells and taste like a Bordeaux, but not like a good one, it reminds me of a mediocre left bank from an average year, say 1994 or so. Some green bell peppers tell the story of not fully ripe Cabernet, not bad but far from good.
