It's still hanging in there but def time to drink up. Very soft, no tannin, little fruit but good body. Not a powerhouse but a delicate example of what 20 years will do for a well made cab.

Seemed like it experienced proper aging, but it just felt flat, besides the big spike of fruit on the attack. Very simple finish.

Still drinking pretty well with classic cabernet fruit and some structue still backing up the fruit. Really exceeded my expectations given the low price point. Has been properly stored in my cellar since purchase, which probably contributed to the quality condition of the wine. I would not say it was yet over the hill, but at it's peak.

The color is good with a light ruby rim. Vanilla, cherry, raspberry, leather, and alcohol on the nose. The palate however disappoints with tart cherry and high acids dominating followed by a short finish highlighted by bitter tannins. Possibly a damaged bottle, but the cork shows no signs of seepage, the color is good, and I didn't get any hints of oxidation. I expected more from a 1997 OFS.

Again, a little disappointed. A reserve class CS from 1997 should be better than this. Just disjointed Color belies the nose which decieves the palate.

This should be an outstanding wine, good year, reserve status (OFS is Our Finest Selection), reputable vintner. No so. Thin comes to mind. The nose was brief. Cabernet fruit was there, but not in force. Not a bad wine, but not much there there. Guess this shows why RRV is Pinot and Chard country. Too cool for CS to ripen.
