Amazing freshness, for 13 year old wine, can still age, Chenin Blanc Loire style.

Super unique wine. Waxey, honeyed, and tasted almost demi sec, Beeswax, golden pear, honeysuckle. Round and rich.

The grapes are sourced from three vineyards, planted in 1902, 1936 and 1942. The must was fermented with inoculated yeast and aged for 13 months in new French oak barriques (95%) with a small addition of Sauvignon Blanc from 2012 (5%). 13,18% alcohol, 2,1 g/l residual sugar, 5,2 g/l acidity, 0,26 g/l VA and pH 3,32. Tasted in a Boekenhoutskloof Sémillon 2017-2005 vertical. Quite deep and concentrated neon yellow-green color. Somewhat dry and understated yet quite nuanced nose with aromas …

Had this several days ago. Lots of yellow fruits and flowers on the nose, with a hint of oak and butterscotch as well. Similar flavours and straw on the medium bodied palate as well. An interesting and different semillon, more like a SA chenin blanc than a Hunter Valley semillon style, as it is rich, oaked version (A-).

Uau! Sempre intenso, ganhou …

This bottle not at all evolved. Delicate nose. This is all about a seamless palate. Very deftly handled oak.

This is one of my wife's favorite wines so we enjoyed it over her birthday lunch. Quite evolved with noticeable wet wool and beeswax aromas alongside ripe apricot and herbs. Oak is perfectly integrated at this stage. On the palate it is medium to full-bodied with medium acidity and good length. Fully mature bordering to overmaturity but still very enjoyable.

UWS (@ JB) : The bouquet is still a bit locked and showing some impressions of minerals. On the palate minerals again, white fruits and ripe yellow fruits, aromatic, a touch of sweetness nicely balanced by good (citrus) acidity. Not like a Pessac, but certainly a very good wine. 88 - 89

Color gold and blonde. The nose is subtle but constantly evolving both in volume and in complexity. Flowers and honey are the first reports but with time memories come from white-fleshed fruit, sage and vanilla. In the mouth the wine impresses with explosiveness, but perfumes and its specificity. Coffee beans or cocoa on the palette, overripe mango, banana, stone fruits like apricot and peach, applesauce, nuts, especially hazelnuts (very strong) and sesame seeds, honey and honeycombs end. In a second …

Complex nose of smoke, honeysuckle, apricot and orange peel. Medium to full-bodied, nice balance, richness, complexity, yet still quite youthful. Long aftertaste.

Fresh citrussy nose. The palate feels very primary with some orange peel and lanolin notes. Good length in the palate with a boiled lemon flavour on the finish. Needs more time.

Light, restrained nose. Fresh and citrussy with a touch of plump round fruit on the mid palate. A bit of fresh straw and lanolin but feels young and tightly wound.

Crustacean, minerals, apple, touch of oak. I did not score the wine, but I remember I was not really impressed. Too young maybe?
