Project 3000 Syrah

This was taken to a Holiday party so I got one of the first glasses and nursed it for 45 min. Dark muted purple in color, earthy almost like potting soil with black pepper on the nose. Has aged well with dark red and blue fruits, finishes with leathery somewhat rustic tannins.

Nicely done, blackberry fruit with some funky brambly musty notes. Overall quite well balanced syrah fruit. Lake County can do this.

On the nose, some black berries and herbs. Good balance, with nice dark fruit, plum and minerals on the palate. Great tannins, which are a bit overwhelming when the bottle is first opened, but they soften up a bit after about 2 hours of decanting. This wine definitely needs a couple hours of breathing to open up. The finish is long, if a little harsh. Quite nice everyday wine when you want a little more oomph.

Anita: Everybody LOVED this (Derrick and Sumi); rich, dense blackberry and jam notes, some dark coffee grinds; teeth coating t’s, lot \s of power, flavor there. “Extended Maturation” to the max! A bit too big for me, though.

Heritage: Super heady and dense; cherry pie, fumey berry; smoke and frt mth (w/vanilla); soft t’s, big mth feel and long fin. Big potent red.

Heritage: Big and dense, dry purple t’s; roasted cherry/berry frt; bit t’s, big bod, burnt dark frt; hi a’s fin.

Intriguing blackberry liqueur, violet, witch hazel nose; tasty, tight, but good plummy, tar palate; medium finish

Heritage: Black licorice, peppery, roasted something! jammy rich concentrated flavors--giant mth, a bit overwrought.
