Still in good shape. Surprising lack of sediment. Smooth, not super complex but good fruit and mellow tannins

Maturing black fruit palate. Holds significantly more tannin than the 2013 we just tried. Rings true about them trying softening these wines in recent years to make them more accessible. Subtle black fruit to the aroma. Earth emerging on the palate, some underbrush-ishness. Drinking well right now.

Drank over a two hour period. It started a little closed, light tannins, and not much fruit. It really opened up over the next two hours. In the end there were hints of vanilla, oak, and cherry with dark fruits. Overall, a very nice wine. Just give it time to open up.

Four nights in Manhatten (Manhatten, NY) : Probably had more fruit a few years ago as this bottle was dominated by the oak, with earthy notes, low acidity, integrated tannins, with hints of plum and currants. Drink soon!

Had forgotten about this bottle, so opened it up. The fruit is gone, mostly, but still medium body, a bit too much tannin for me, tight short finish. Clearly over the hill, but pleasant for a casual drink with pizza.

Gift from Jeff Williams for my retirement from Rampf. Dark ruby color, on nose strong impact of cabernet fruit: mature but not overly sweet brambles, some cedar/pencil shavings on palate quite rich, good extract, some dark chocolate comes through; nice complexity and good finish. This is a very good wine that still has another 5-8 years in it.

I found several 2004s and 2005 s at a Safeway last month. The 2004 is markedly superior.

Enjoyed at BKP's. This one was OK, but quite unidimensional. The lack of interesting layers kind of made me rank this one lower compared to some of the others that this one should have been right up with. The nose was consistent of cola and blackberry, the palate giving the same with maybe a little bit of leather and some vanilla in the front and middle. The finish was, for the most part, mildly tannic. I think that this one …

This wine is a little too old, and the bolder characteristics of Cabernet have transitioned into a softer, mellower drink. Zero tannins remain. Not too bad, but no longer a Cabernet, now it's more like a Malbec or Sangiovese in boldness.

And I may be a little high on the rating ... I've sat on this bottle for 3 and a half years now and was very disappointed even after decanting this 90 minutes prior to drinking. There was something 'sharp' on the nose that neither my better half or I could figure out ... it wasn't 'corked', but it wasn't good either. There was some dark fruit, but the 'sharpness' still came through more than the fruit. Tannins stood out …

Same as last bottle...dark plum in color. same smells as last time...blackberries/currents with hints of spice/pepper, licorice and cedar. Slight cherry/berry flavor on first taste. No oak this time... some slight tannin on first taste. After decanting almost no tannins...slightly sweet fruit flavor. Very drinkable...

This is drinking well, with well integrated tannins, good balance, and a pleasant dried fruit and spice bouquet and palate. The finish isn't very long and the midpalate is a tad hollow, but for $20ish, this is a solid performer.

Crimson-purple; black currants, blackberries, dark chocolate, earth; cassis, blackberry jam, medium full body, ripe round tannins, decent finish. Intriguing nose of concentrated berries and chocolate but lacking acidity and tannins. More like an everyday drinker. Am I leaning towards the old world now?

This bottle went unnoticed in the cellar, which is a good thing or I would have consumed before now based on the recommended drank date. It had significantly improved from the previous two bottles that I had in 2008. Garnet with faint oak nose. Simple on the palette with good cab flavors, a bit of barn yard and pepper. Went well with the ribeyes.
