Domaine des Roches Neuves Saumur-Champigny Les Mémoires

Still very young, but very impressive already. Aromas of redcurrants, cranberries, intense red cherry and biscuits, then the usual crunchy attack, but more intense than any other Mémoires tasted so far. For now, fairly one-dimensional, but with very finely woven strands of redcurrants, cherries and cranberries, powerful but very elegant. Clearly an outstanding wine in the making, but it needs another decade.

Nice shizzeled Franc, warm year, yet vert sophisticatetly handeled. Bright peony, bit clouded and volcainc like a gang of four cru Beaujolais, some grip at the end argues for some poultry

Palate was good, but all I get on the nose is brett. I don't see any notes suggesting that, but curious if that's been anyone else's experience with this wine.

Beautiful and complex bouquet with dark berries and herbs and spices. On the palate juicy dark berries, vanilla, laurel, beautifully fresh acidity and round, friendly tannin.

Method: decanted 1 hour; Cab glass; 62ish degrees Look: deep purple Nose: cedar, pencil shavings, light bell pepper, leather, raspberry, blackberry, light tobacco Palate: ripe/juicy blackberry, cedar; long finish graphite, bell pepper rib, light dried herbs, light woodsmoke; dry; medium+ body; medium+ (almost high-) drying tannins; high-, slightly tart acidity Overall thoughts: Structured, but balanced wine with nice fruit and complementary earthy notes. Nose: flint, pepper, blueberry, tobacco, cedar, pencil shavings Palate: blueberry, blackberry, cedar, tobacco, pepper, wood smoke; long finish of woodsmoke, blackberry and cedar; full - body; grippy tannins; high - acidity Overall: it feels like it's missing something in the structure, it's almost there but missing something; could be that the tannins are a bit too grippy and drying; otherwise it's good. Good notes and an enjoyable drink none the less!

Good structure (M/M+ tannin; M+ acid), tart dark fruits, some animal (definitely on the nose), mineral. A really good wine with very good length.

95 Excelente vino. Color púrpura, muy joven y bastante cubierto. Nariz esplendida, floral, frutal, fresa ácida, cerezas. Por detrás, notas sutiles y varietales de pimiento. En boca el vino es extraordinario, muy pulido, con una acidez importante y un final largo, equilibrado y muy elegante. Gran vino.

Rich, black cherry fruit with slightly damp vegetable flavors, excellent structure, ample finish, little tart

Just excellent. All you can expect from a Loire Valley cab franc.

Gang of 4 in Covid19 times; Cornas vs St. Joseph (@ RW) : Very youthful wine. Cherries in the bouquet and on the palate. Good acidity and tannin. Beautiful and also powerful mouth feel. Has a long future ahead. 92+

This displayed ripe (but not overripe) red fruits, spice and hints of herbs. Good depth, but not quite giving, with a very muted bouquet. Refined structure, but still tightly coiled. Needs time.
