Bright, intense nose of lemon/lime soda, tropical fruit, almost with a candied quality. Sparkly at the same time, saline and white florals. A deeper tone of mandarin, apricot, grapefruit, chamomile, perhaps from the 2 day maceration on the skins. Equally intense and boisterous fruit (grapefruit, guava) on the palate, but it's remarkably light on its feet. It's so juicy but not flabby, fresh and crisp like the best SB. Consistently one of my favorite Styrian wines, a really interesting, organically farmed Sauvignon Blanc sourced from different vineyard plots (calcareous and volcanic soils) surrounding the village of Straden (located about forty kilometers south-east of the city of Graz). Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by six months maturation on the fine lees. Color: pale lemon yellow with green reflections.
