Initially, rich flavors. More like an aged Vouvray than an aged white Burgundy. Some acidity began to peek through after 30 minutes and it seemed obvious this needed a decant. It has aged nicely, with a little butterscotch oxidation and showing typical botrytis and a little RS. It could use a little more acidity, but was still very enjoyable, particularly with a torchon of foie gras.

The age of this wine shows in its golden color. Palate is consistent with this, with a hint of butterscotch poking through an otherwise balanced palate. Acid keeps this well balanced, but a touch of herbal and a lack of depth belie this wine's origin from humbler environs. Pleasant but ultimately doesn't have the charm to please you more than you'd expect from a Viré Clessé. 87-88

Ah, finally ready to drink. This wine rocks tonight right out of the gate. Med. gold yellow. Take AM's note (Burghound) and combine with Josh's (from IWC) and you have the perfect description of this wine tonight. There is just the most subtle hint of mint, as well. Showing signs of age, the wine displays a marked golden hue. The nose is very pure and focussed, there is a clear oxydative character to it but it is by far not overwhelming. Ripe fruits, some tropical elements in the spectrum. An amazing Macon at its peak. Beautiful dark gold yellow, on the nose quite sweet and fresh yet deep. On the palate first sip is like a good pinot gris from Alsace(a bit oily, lot of honey, and orange/citrus qualities) then the back end is stunningly fresh with beautiful mineral and fresh back bone echoing beautifully. A stunning result from this maker which won't stop surprising me!~

Inviting yellow golden hue. Expressive nose of pineapple, mango, pâté, honey and white flowers (honeysuckle) all wrapped up tightly together with an icy freshness. If it had been a blind tasting I would have gone for a top drawer Riesling based on the nose. Oh boy, yet another great pleasure provider! The color is getting darker gold. Beautiful aromas of pineapple, mature sweet peach, pear, orange peel. On the palate superbe textured mingling gorgeous tastes of citrus, exotic fruits, oily and yet pure. The back end is beautifully uplifting, and the echoes of above cords are resonating naturally and quite long. It is not sweet but yet gives the impression of, and the back end is tight with beautifully remaining acidity. Yum~

Good wine although 2002 is not the best vintage for this unique style of white burg. The weight is more pronounced with higher alcohol making this a little hot and slightlly cloying. The sulpher aspect is more pronounced as well. Still a good quality wine with appropriate food as is usually the case from this maker.

WIML92 Tasted non blind at a restaurant. Yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of acacia, peach, a hint of hazelnut, some yellow pears, a dash of lychee and a bit of wet stones. Flavors of yellow pears, yellow apples, a bit of pineapple and some minerals. Medium to bright acidity, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold.

Big, ripe chardonnay with flavors suggesting rich apple syrup and a buttery leesy richness, and a touch of oxidation on the back end. Just moderate acid and considerable RS, so this needs a bit of a chill for everything to place nicely together. Rich, deep and intense, once it finds its rhythm.

deep golden color, but not at all oxidized. bright and fresh, and a nice mix of chardonnay fruit with something herbal, and the RS is also prominent. i preferred this much more with food - we had roast carrots with basil, and it worked well. sipping this on its own, it's a bit much for me. i think it's best, though, as a cheese wine.

Superb old school Vire-clesse (read with a touch of RS). This wine is so well balanced that it is hard to tell it's 14%. Complex nose with spices, dry apricot, ripe apple and a touch of exotic fruits. With air, great minerality (flint) adds freshness. Full body but with a great acidity, a pleasure to drink with a med finish. This one is ready to live another 15 years.

Very aromatic. Apple, tropical fruits, and graham cracker on the nose. Similar notes on the palate with a lot of minerality. Creamy mouthfeel with a lot of weight- fairly full-bodied for a white wine at 14% ABV. Medium high acidity and a medium long finish. Very good stuff.

Good color. Nice aromatics. Orange-apricot marmalade, caramel, mineral infused wine with a touch of butter. It is medium body and shows great balance. Drink or hold.

Clearly a really well made wine, but it wasn't dry more offdry. Better with cheese and dessert in my mind. Very good nonetheless, just understand that it has slight residual sugar.

Deep golden in color, with expressive cherry and seashore aromas, although with air and an increase in temperature the botrytis starts to take center stage. Continues to develop in the mouth, boisterous with nuances, like apple pie without the sweetness, as well as liquid rocks. In flavor if not aromas this straddles the line between sweet and savory. This is a riot of a Macon that's doing extremely well right now.
