Two hour double decant. Deep dark garnet magenta color. Cherry, blueberry, granite, crème brûlée, and subtle black truffle. Smooth, dry, modestly plush palate, with good acidity. Firm tannins on the longish finish. It’s apparently been six years since I last tried this. Brought this to Valentine’s Day supper club. It was tied for wine of the night (with a 2018 Belair Monange) for me. Still drinking very well and certainly needs aeration to drink at its best.

Loved it ! completely ready to drink and such a delicious wine. Very dry and extremely elegant. This is ready for a waygu filet. I am so sad I am to my last bottle. I think the wine is in its best place and will remain there for a few years. Drink now till 2030 or so. It was my choice for my bday wine... I was not dissapointed at all.

My first 2013. Shared with friends at a late afternoon Sunday tasting. I'm a big fan of giving The Mascot airtime because it shows pretty primary early on. After 3.5 hours the wine was providing all of its the nuances and very enjoyable. In terms of timing, this is in a good place and there's no need to sit on it too long. Find some friends, give it a few hours of air and enjoy it. Cheers.

In the mood for a cali cab. Hit the spot. Excellent with a 30 minute decant.

Savory with dense dark fruit, black olives, red meat and mint. Somewhat chalky tannins. Brooding and intense. Remains somewhat closed after a 2 hour decant. Started to mellow and soften a bit and let a hint of acidity shine through after 4 hours.

From magnum, tasted opposite the Altagracia. Looking beyond the clear style differences, this was the somewhat lesser wine. More overt oak to start and a bit disjointed. Over the next hour, it seemed to knit together and open up. Given where this bottle was, I suspect it’s time to drink up the 750s in the next year or two.

Initially leads with an assertive tannic structure but mellows after 30 minutes in the glass. Dark, dense, brooding fruit. Black olive tapenade, mushrooms and tar. No overt sweetness or heat. Despite the flavor profile, does not feel heavy. Good balance with a nice acidic spine in the background. Will be interesting to see how this evolves over time.

This was a tannic monster upon opening. I poured a glass that I "nursed" for a couple of hours. The nose is wonderful and rich, but on the palate, a tooth-coating tannic beast. I revisited it late the following day, by which time the dark fruit was emerging (probably wanting to make sure a tannic hammer didn't crush them!) and this shows real promise. Yes, wait at least another 5 years, or decant for 24 hrs. I suggest waiting, as …

This is still so massive. After two hours open it was barely approachable. Wait five years.

Great color and still youthful. Will drink the next of the 3 pack in 3-4 years. 1 hour decant. Day 2 with this wine it was still big.

An amazing bottle of elegant and beautiful cabernet at peak. If you like fruit I would not wait longer than lets say 2 or so years. This wine at 10 years is in an amazing moment and I will open the rest that I have in my cellarthis year and next but not further than that because I enjoy fruit.

Milder structure and better balance since last bottle sampled a couple years ago. Short decant. Dark fruit and berries, chocolate and cedar. Rich and satisfying. Good acidity for steak. Great balance with integrated tannins and a long finish.

Great after 2 hr decant. Tight early after opening. Tannins are very well integrated. Good dark fruit. Paired well with wagyu strip steak.

10 years from vintage date seems to be the sweet spot for the Mascot. It’s really hitting its stride now with a full 45 second finish. Great wine!

Wow, had this with NY strip steak for NYE dinner. At 10 years of age it’s drinking at its prime. Love it!!

Sexy, elegant, beautiful delicious wine. Had it with filet and paired extremely well. I think the wine is at peak and improved since last bottle 3 years ago. Will remain at this level for a few years I think.

had at vistro prime exciting potential when opened and by the time the stars arrived an hour later evolved into an elegant interesting pairing dark fruit length and satisfying quite different than the recent 2019 we had

This was spectactular. Perfect time to drink. Wonderful fruit. Deep and rich. My buddies raved about the wine. Paired incredibly well with grass fed t-bones I picked up at the farmer's market, along with french fries and a frog bench farms lettuce salad. Perfect pre-game before the Zach Nugent Dead show at the State Room. I'm glad I have more of this. What a treat!!

Great wine. Intense wine, round, in fine harmony, spice with dark tobacco, black berries and an underlying sweetness from the ripe fruit. You could get used to this. #MASH

this evening at Capital Grill found this bottle to be in excellent shape and at a good drinking point still some tannins with mysterious dark fruit dancing in and out initial explosive nose settled down nicely a treat from start to finish

Nose crushed currents, fresh raspberries, plum, and cedar box of cigars even though 13 years old it is fresh nose. The palate follows nose discriptors with herb elements of black pepper, thyme-with fresh tilled earth. Amazingly fresh fruit and berries for this wine-massive tannins round out a perfect balance with a long finish.Harlan did it then like he does today!

Consistent. Aging well. Still has less structure than the ‘14 in my opinion, but a solid wine. Looking forward to direct comparison with the ‘15 and ‘16.
