Followed for about 2 hours over the course of dinner, the 2016 Cos Labory remains relatively young - its nose is most expressive at the outset offering a combination of pomegranate, plum, and violet potpourri typical to the property. The palate carries the same traits with a greater depth of expression, and it and continues to be more expressive as the nose shuts down within 20 minutes. With reasonably integrated tannin already, a relatively lush body, fresh acidity, and a …

At open, still a little closed. However after 30 min decanted it opened up. Nice fruit, pretty long and tannins well integrated. Enjoyable and will continue to improve (had 2 bottles, w neighbours in Ljunghusen)

Well balanced wine. On the nose, a little funky, savory, and a bit of dark fruit. On the palate, nice balance between acidity and tannin. Enjoyable wine.

Decent nose, typical bordeaux. Quite closed, and tannins very present. Despite opening, probably 1h30 min prior to drinking didn't open it. A bit disappointed. Will wait at least a year or so for next bottle

Modern, with structure and density in abundance. A very aromatic merlot that gives way to the heaviness of the CS in the mouth, insurmountable tannins and an enormous length. Monotonic and boring. Certainly it's not the St. Estephe type I pay real attention to. Moderno, con estructura y densidad a raudales. Una merlot muy aromática que cede el paso ante la pesadez de la cabernet en boca.Taninos infranqueables y una longitud descomunal. Monótono y aburrido. No es el tipo de …

At this early stage difficult to predict where this bottle will go. Dark fruit, liquorice, herbal notes, sous-bois and a rim of spices and mentholic aromas. Medium bodied, with a good acidity balance this is a well crafted left bank. If you can wait, then don't open before 2030, as this vintage has a lot in store...

Fruity, forward, medium bodied, spicy, round and easy drinking, there is a nice blast of ripe cassis and cigar box in the finish.

Amsterdam UGCB Tasting and Winemakers' Dinner (Beurs van Berlage / Café De Klepel) : A blend of 53% Cabernet-Sauvignon and 44% Merlot, with 3% Petit Verdot, highish yield of 57hl/ha. Very supple and rounded style, delicious but not profound.

UNION DES GRANDS CRUS DE BORDEAUX 2016 VINTAGE SAN FRANCISCO. (Metreon, San Francisco, Ca.) : UNION DES GRANDS CRUS DE BORDEAUX 2016 VINTAGE SAN FRANCISCO. Nose of black berry, dry forest floor, slate, and allspice, same on the palate, medium/big body, needs 2 years to peak or solid decant now, opened slowly but open it did, good acid, nice fruit, and along finish, very good QPR,

Zachys Grands Crus de Bordeaux 2016 (New York City, NY) : What a fabulous wine and likewise fabulous story for this Vineyard. I liked both tonight. The wine is way to young to judge and I don't know how they expect anyone to thoroughly do so. That said there are signs of a winner here. I sensed the melancholy in the wine from the 50% new oak barrels. It is mouth coating, (yes really dry) .... but quite complex with …

At a tasting last month where we compared over 40 2016s. Also tasted a year ago en primeur and a similar note. Typical of the vintage. Sublime, smooth, lovely. Not great value though..

Medium bodied with loads of earth, spice box, blackberry and cassis, this wine is fresh, bright and shows character and sweetness as well as fruit in the finish.
