Translucent ruby. Nose of serious berry, cherry blossom, lifted violets, hints of iron, and rock dust. Layers of red raspberry, black cherry, savory bramble, iodine, molecular iron, and crushed stone on the satin-textured palate. Bright, almost spritzy (at age 20) acidity, and pliant tannin. Longer finish of echoing red berry, briar, iron, and fine earth. Great showing - so beautifully and unexpectedly vibrant and alive.

Leaky cork, perfect wine. This is totally classic Oregon Pinot. More fruit forward than most other Thomas vintages.

Getting better with age. Earthy tart cherry on the nose, touch of sweetness, taste cherry, earth with balance of tannins and fruit. Finish medium and light pepper on the end of tongue. Simply wonderful with our fish and salad.

Light ruby core. Flowers, earth, and red fruits. Medium to light weight with a gentle soil base. Plum, cherry, and citrus sinuously mixed with a whiff of smoke, earth, and light herb. Excellent acidity and light tannins. This is a gorgeous Pinot, so subtle and refined.

Coming together compared to my prior bottle several years ago. Still rather dense and darker fruited, more a black cherry profile. Dense lush palate, really mouth coating with just enough acidity--but a little more energy/verve here would be appreciated. Gets muddled on the finish,l where the reduction shows. Adding flint/smoke/matchstick notes. Definitely give this some air.

Part of an eleven vintage vertical tasting stretching '09-'22. This '15 was one of the finest of the evening. All there, anise, incense, spice, delightfully lithe on the palate. About as good as I've ever had an Oregon pinot.

Slow ox'd for 24 hours. Over ripe strawberries, over ripe red cherries, black licorice, rhubarb, dirt and meaty mushrooms on the nose. Medium + intensity of aromas, and smells like all of its 15 years. More youthful on the palate, which shows flavors of RIPE strawberries, dirt, mushrooms, with a fantastic purity to the fruit. I searched for other red fruits on this and it's really just strawberries - but imagine the ripest, purest wild strawberries you've ever tasted. High …

Beautiful translucent (almost transparent) light medium ruby with scarlet hints. Transporting nose of dense but higher-pitched violets, iodine strands, stony briar, bits of beef blood, and damp cellar. Layers of pure, incisive black cherry, raspberry, and aforementioned iodine cut with stony earth on the focused, fine-boned palate. Brisk acidity and fine-grained tannin. Longer finish of gentle dark fruit, powdered earth, and bits of iron. Gorgeous Oregon Pinot in its prime drinking window.

Oh hell yeah that's good juice. My nose is a little burned out from a long night of young but well aerated Washington cabs so I almost wondered if this was corked. Black tea, earth, cherries. As it breaths, there's a warm overripe dark ripe quality two feet from the glass. On the palate, it's black tea, cherries, mushrooms on the finish. This may not be the most extremely concentrated Thomas wine, but it's easily one of my favorites. As …

Translucent medium ruby. Nose of nostril-filling fresh-cut flowers, red berry, bramble, stony iodine. Layers of surprisingly primary black cherry, raspberry, earthy quarry, and briar on the incisive palate. Bright, initially spritzy acidity (spritz eventually blew off) balancing tamed tannin. Long finish of that deep drilling black cherry cut with crushed stone and cranberry powder. So good with baked steelhead.

Dinner at D Cuisine (Chicago, IL) : I think this may not have been a totally representative bottle, but it didn't have overt flaws either. A bit high-toned and showing significantly more mature versus the lovely 2006 alongside. The fruit profile has some modest browning notes as well.

Dinner at D Cuisine (Chicago, IL) : My favourite of the Thomas bottles tonight -- this is brilliant now. There's a bit of ripeness to the red fruit here, but it's not overdone, and it's in fact quite delicate overall. Strawberries and perfume, the way aged Oregon pinot ought to be.

"tɑːɹˈtɑːɹ sauce" (Chicago, IL) : My favourite of the Thomas wines tonight. It's definitely riper, darker, and far more fruit-forward than the other two younger vintages. Great intensity and sweetness on the palate, but with an old school sensibility to the fruit. Not overdone in the slightest, and very much to my current palate preferences.

Have been fortunate to been able to be on John's mailing list since 2009. If you love Pinot Noir try and find a bottle (not easy) and do not drink it too early. Consistently always exceptional Pinot and perhaps the best you can find from USA. Also had a wet cork and a bit of mold but 1 hour decant later--happiness!

Was very concerned when the foil was stuck to the bottle and after pealing it off saw mold and serious leakage underneath. Cork was soaked through so had to use a pronged extractor. Cleaned off the mold. Poured and it looked right for color with a clear ruby Nose was intriguing with cranberry- raspberry note, bright red, almost a cinnamon note for spice. Palate is delicious, dominated by red fruit and med- high acid. Decent length for a finish. Just …

Tasted alongside 2019 Gilbert Fellitig and 2019 Occidental. This was the flashiest of the bunch. Nice rich dark fruits but the wood spice and oak was sticking out a bit. With more time to resolve this will be a really nice wine. Give this another few years in bottle.

Decanted and waited an hour, opened up nicely amd filled in. Nice minerality on the nose, wine is picking up tertiary notes of fall, but still has plenty of fruit. Tannins are resolving, but plenty of acidic lift. Very nice early maturity, but no rush. Complete wine with no holes, lovely intense aromatics full palate and nice length.

A celebration of several birthdays, including my own milestone event : And now for something completely different. "We need a red wine!" came the call from someone apparently designated as the wine shortage messenger. With no plan in mind, I headed to the cellar and grabbed a bottle from the floor, still wrapped in its simple paper packaging. It turned out to be a great choice—most of the group wasn’t familiar with the producer, and even fewer had tasted his …

Pork & Vino Dinner (Eagle Brook CC) : Double decanted off its sediment about three hours before service and it needed some time in the glass for some sulfur notes to blow off. Notes of earth and red berry fruit with a pretty floral overtone. Cherry and sous bois on the palate. Good, but fading a assuming this bottle is representative.

Opened by Allred. Small production cult Pinot Noir producer who makes about 375 cases per year. His vineyard was planted in 1984 and his wine was first released in 1992. I previously had the 2005, 2006, 2008, 2011 and 2012 and never been disappointed. This wine ranked right up there with the 2008 and 2012 in my opinion. Decanted 4 hours before drinking. Garnet color. Silky and refined yet fuller bodied. This had a rich texture with red currant, Asian …

Decanted in advance of dinner this evening and poured off an ounce or so to check...absolutely nothing wrong with this. Wow. An enchanting bouquet of blood orange, cherry, rose and brambly fruit/spice. There are hints of sandalwood, pine straw and forest floor as well. The palate is much simpler by comparison and definitely needs the air. Flavors of black cherry, raspberry and spice. Excellent, and I look forward to retasting this about five hours from now, after it will have …

Surprising how little this has shifted in ~3 years. Still with the black fruit up front and intensity on the core. More accessible than the 2018s or the 2021s but still has plenty of room to grow. Will aim to come back again in 2026.

The Thomas bottle variation was very present in this one and I will not be giving it a rating. This 15 was much lighter than the other 15s I've opened. I couldn't tell if there was a flaw but it was much different than previous 2015s.

Cork leaked, and some crust under the capsule. On the nose: vosne spice, rose, pure wild strawberry, a touch of earth. On the palate: lovely acidity, a hint of va, wild strawberry, cocoa powder, rose, a touch of black tea. Some grainy tannin on the juicy finish. Just starting to come into its own, but an absolutely gorgeous btl of wine. Undoubtedly the best PN I've had this year. A glorious btl.

Bell pepper on the nose initially, blew off after the first 30 minutes or so, after which it was red fruit all the way. Raspberry up front, cranberry in the middle with beeswax (almost like white, like a chenin) and on the finish. Textures are fantastic, velvety throughout without being the least bit chewy. Long finish on a surprising pop of acidity. Special occasion and couldn't resist opening this last bottle of my original 3. Drank side-by-side with a 2006 …

A rainy Oregon harvest in 2007 and yet this red blessedly stellar. Medium red with crushed dried cranberry nose. Powerful full bodied sweet primary strawberry/cherry palate, expanding impressively on the back end, with enough acidity and minerality to carry it another 20 years.
