Blir förvånad av andras poäng, tyckte inte så mycket om detta. Tranbär, lingon, för lite struktur.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2020 Siccagno pours a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of blackberry, black cherry, pomegranate, dry leaf tobacco, wood varnish, and volcanic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. This is a fresh, …

Pop and pour at a restaurant (Scjacaba, in Palermo). A bit closed, and not as expressive as previous bottles, probably due to lack of air contact. Best glass was the last, when the wine’s perfume started to come through. Sour red cherries, hints of rose petal, spices, dried herbs. On the palate, very good acidity. Very food friendly - paired well with everything from seared tuna to rabbit to braised pork cheek.

This was drinking exceptionally well - esp. after 3 hrs of slow ox in bottle. Incredible perfume on the nose - sour red cherries, hints of rose, some spices, some dried herbs. Lovely mouthfeel. On the palate, excellent acidity, fine tannins, tart red cherries, pepper. Lean, elegant, no flab.

First go w Arianna Occhipinti’s Siccagno (v20, 12% ABV, 100% Nero d’Avola) - yet another massive effort f this winemaker, enticing structure, fresh as a daisy w exquisite concentration in terms of fruit. Beautiful dark ruby-cherry red, translucent in glass. Complex nose showcasing ripe sour cherries, plums & cassis, rose petals, smoke, warm spice, pepper, tar & dried balsamic herbs. Tart, m-bodied palate, tannin-attack at t fore & close, juicy-raspy-grainy-sour m-palate, peppery, dryish & persistent-mineral close!

Lovely, lovely wine. A melange of red fruits: cherry, raspberry, and pomegranate. Married to a refreshing acidity. A classy wine, that easily could have been overdone. My favorite Nero d’avola. Drink young and enjoy the fruit. Paired with Sunday Gravy with braciole, sausage, and short ribs all braised in the gravy

Tasted after giving it 30 minutes of air. Incredibly rich and deeply intense black and blue fruits. Tart mineral undertones, with substantial tannic pucker. Impressive effort, I’ll give it another 3-4 years before opening another bottle. 93 points today, potential for 2-3 more with some bottle age.

This wine wildly exceeded expectation and really marked us. At Via Carota. Her wines have really come together--I recall these being quite hit or miss back in the early years when seemingly everyone was obsessed here in NYC. This was polished and regal, what a texture.

A joy to drink, pepper, cherry, and volcanic earth on the nose, followed by black cherry, pepper spice, menthol, and cola notes on the palate. Occhipinti is one of my favorite producers from Sicily

Tasting with Adrianna Occhipinti (Wine Mouth) : 25 days skins contact, Nero D'avola grown in limestone, aged for 2 years old in used (~ 7 years) 325L barrel. More red fruits compared to the Frappato, prune, cherry, med acid, silky tannins, high acid, long finish with med body. Definitely can age longer for it to evolve. The best Nero D'avola, I have had.

Nose becomes shy with aeration, but left to concentrate it shows wood-oven baked cherry pie and light herbal notes. High acidity and light mouthfeel, but moderate tannins prevent a juicy aspect. Restrained elegance all around, excellent. 2026+

Decanted for 2 hours. Served with spicy cold tomato soup (salmorejo) followed by dry brined roast rare hanger steak. Delicious. Wonderful herbal complexity in the nose and mouth. Some strawberry. Medium light body. Very fresh all the way through and refreshing in the finish.

Light opacity; violet color with a tendency toward ruby. Dusty road, talcum powder, cherry and considerable herbal notes. The profile begins with the bright raspberry/sour cherry core and continues to display an acid driven core to a long finish. Clean and pure.
