PnP, but opened a bit with air. The color was a clear light to medium violet. There was a bit of dark fruit (black cherry) and red fruit (sour cherry) on the medium bodied palate along with some spice and a bit of earth. The acidity was a bit more than needed to balance and any tannins were integrated. It seemed to us that this wine may be at the backside of its drink window, so plan to drink it …

Lovely balance, berries and a hint of savoury. Smooth and easy

Looking over previous tasting notes, I believe many resulted from opening the wine too soon. Yes, it has a screw top closure, but it is just now coming into balance. It still has a lovely, deep red burgundy color, so there is no fear of aging. The nose has evolved, and carries undertones of dark fruit, cloves and sour cherries. On the palate, tannins are integrated with the cherry fruit, but the finish is still a bit too tannic and …

This will be the official day which I stop buying anything that Suck(ling) reviews as great. He had this at 96. 96 is like an epic wine. To me this wine is not epic, not even very good. It's drinkable just to kill of an hour sitting with some friends taking in a conversation with a side of wine, friends that don't care so deeply about wine. It's just a cheap drinking wine, hard to give any notes for me …

Muted nose of herbal berries. Sour cherry and pepper on the palate, with some textural grip. Pleasant straightforward wine. Did not show well on the second day: the fruit diminished.

Brief- Fresh, fruit forward but medium bodied and not over extracted. No off flavors or aromas. All-in-all a very nice, young, flavorful and enjoyable Pinot. Good from the first taste and with chicken stew.

I find this to be a typical Central Otago pinot. It offers pretty red fruit with gaminess, cola, and hints of spice. It's not powerful or particularly complex or elegant. Good wine, but the high professional ratings are a mystery to me.

Dark color for a Pinot. Strong aromas of red berries, red currants, and earthy undertones. Lots of complexity on the palatte, with pronounced tannins and acid in a medium body. Drinking great now, suspect it may get even better in the next few years.

A disappointing pinot, with a funky punch to it that was quite synthetic in taste. Not worth all the hype.

Pure and simple. Clean black cherry flavor with hints of cinnamon and damp earth. Perfect pinot fruit flavors, but a bit wimpy. That seems to be what you get with Central Otago. Benchmark pinots in a way -- but I crave more excitement. I feel like New Zealand is an overachiever in the wine world with its distinctive sauvignon blancs and pinots.

Dark nose. Lots of brambles. Packs a punch. Has those central Otago tannins. Great acid. Nicely structured. Plenty cola.

Dark ruby color. Long legs. This has a really enticing nose of black cherry, raspberry, and plum. Palate is cherry dominated, with some cinnamon. Excellent finish. This has a lot of life ahead of it. Great Central Pinot.

I believe this is my first taste of New Zealand Pinot Noir. Very different, but quite likeable. This is quite dark, with really big, thick legs. Gorgeous nose, very expressive with powerful floral and cherry fruit elements. Great on the palate as well. Good rich body, nice fruit, and excellent structure. Has real presence in the mouth, and heavy on the black cherries, even well into the long finish. Only quibble is a bit of weirdness in the flavor, kind …

Requires 3+ hours decanting here in early 2017 for anything to be going on. 6 hours in still felt like it was improving. Likely will drink a bottle a year for the next decade to see how it evolves. Medium+ bodied, medium complexity. Nose is smoky, spiced, black cherry, cola, plum, truffle, touch of burnt cedar. Palate brings a similar profile with the addition of sassafras and hints of oak and vanilla. The finish was short and reminded me of …

Superb value for money that shows a muscular finesse. Dark cherry fruit is pure and has an iron-like minerality that is clean and serious. Crystalline and defined, there is wonderful clarity of flavour and texture that recalls Pommard or Echezeaux.

Deep dark fruit, good acidity. The downer for me was a run of astringency on the finish. Tannin? Not sure. My first NZ Pinot. Went well with food. No score due to limited experience with this area. If I had another bottle I'd give it a couple years to mellow.

Served to friends from a decanter. My guests loved this wine, as did I. Dark red fruit flavors, balanced with tannins. Some aromas of plum and herbs/spice. A really lovely effort. Everybody guessed a much, much higher price-point.

Very sulphur nose to begin with. Once it blew off some fruit on the nose. Moderate complexity, not a long finish.

20 months since my last tasting. 1 hour decant. This wine has fleshed out and now has a ripe cooked cherry flavour profile and enough acidity to balance. A touch of heat. Medium length. Moved up 3 points since Feb '13 but still too one dimensional to justify price. Also I fear now at its peak and for perhaps another year or so max. Can't see this improving further.

Bottle unscrewed 45 mins before consumption. Clean cherry aromas carried forward onto the palate in spades. Fresh acidity concentrates the fruit but in the end this a one dimensional wine. Perhaps with a little more age will open up and develop some complexity. Will report back. Seriously overpriced for an OK wine as it currently stands.

Dark pink-red color with medium transparency. Aromas show slight reduction notes of sulfur and cabbage initially. Eventually, black cherry, cranberry, and thyme notes emerge. Later, coffee elements also appear on the nose. The palate initially has reduction and cran-raspberry fruit with slightly medicinal cherry cough drop notes. The finish is medium. A half bottle left for the next day takes on deep coffee notes as it oxidizes. This one appears to be shut down right now and needs to be …

Certainly getting better with age. I am slowly coming round to the 08's right now and am very impressed with where they are going. Testament to the fact that good Kiwi pinot benefits from a few good years in the bottle.

Translucent ruby red and very vibrant. Absolutely no fading at the rim. Spiced and herbal fruited nose with touches of forrest funk. Fresh red fruited palate with lovely silky mouthfeel with decent length and persistence. Altogether well integrated wine that is showing well but has a few good years ahead of it. If I must criticize, it is a touch simple and one dimensional
