From memory. We were only able to give it some air in a water caraf, which I think did not give it full justice. Nevertheless, it was fairly approachable now, with some light toast and development. Nice hints of tropic fruits to the yellow fruit. It hallmarks right now are to me its sheer balance, great concentration and lenght. No doubt this has further upside potential, but at least another 3-4 years will be warranted.

Complex older Chardonnay nose; similar to previous note; earth, oak, vanilla, citrus undertones; deep, round, rich finish. w/scallops.

From magnum. Loads of dry extract, this is a wine of massive intensity. The chalky minerality is most prominent, and there's ample fruit working its way through it. Still on the young side, though quite enjoyable now. My guess is there's more upside to aging it than there is risk, it's quite a big wine.

Terrific wine brought by Bob to Sapora. Hugely thick and unctuous, medium gold. Massive dense dried apple, orange peel, apricot flavors - this is Montrachet. Could use a little more acidity, though.

Tasted double blind, this was undoubtedly chardonnay. Very pretty, but not necessarily complex at this point. Unctuous, with definite oak showing. Expecting a curve ball from the donor of the wine, I guessed that this might be a New World chard of very high quality whose wines I had not had before. On that basis, I guessed Kistler, 2000-2005. Scored 9.2 out of 10 at the time. I saved a tiny sample of this that I forgot about in the …
