At a great place now, big wine with still a lot of fruits with tertiary notes well developed. Would recommend having it a bit chilled as it can feel a bit heavy otherwise.

Definetly a good Bordeaux-ish blend, with more Cabernet Sauvignon then Malbec, and a little bit of Cabernet Franc. Very round and juicy. The alcohol is very integrated. Medium acid. Soft tannins. Satisfying wine.

PNP. Did not standout in a blind lineup of other South American Malbec and Cab-Malbec blends. Still too young, though tannins were round. Character of Cabernet Sauvignon seemed muffled. Probably should have been decanted. Tasted more textural like Malbec than Cab though latter dominant in blend

Seductive blackberry jam, vanilla, marzipan, lavender and dark plum liqueur on the nose, with a subtle graphite edge. Full bodied and milky mouthfeel, concentrated but with a surprisingly balanced freshness, hints of herbal notes, mint, liquorice and bitter dark chocolate to the finish. Soft but grippy tannins feel nicely integrated already. Not quite profoundly complex, but oh so delicious. 95+

Color: Deep ruby. Nose: It is getting better while breathing. Cherries, berries, beet root. After a while there is eucalyptus. Mouth: Cassis. Excellent expressiveness. Fresh, lean and tight. Very good to excellent length. Tannins are very present and just a bit too noticeable at this stage. A bit of green paprika, too. Full bodied. The 13.5% alc. is extremely well hidden. It is developing while breathing. Now there is a creaminess to it. At the beginning of the drinking window. …

Not what I was expecting, but then again, I don’t usually drink Argentinian wine or Malbec… Super balanced is my main reaction. Very dark purple color. Robust structure. Present but not overpowering tannins. Fruit forward - dark fruit - but balanced perhaps some stone/flint. Nicely coats the mouth. Rich without being overpowering. Medium acidity. Very enjoyable.

Wine Guild Notes 61% Cab, 31% Malbec, 8% Cab Franc - this reminds us of high-end Cali Cab, blackberry syrup, dried fig, dusty green tannins and spices for days, mostly vanilla and cinnamon & mint. A big, full wine, very savory & seriously structured tannins. The real savory notes come after the first sip, the fruit is balanced and elegant, totally what you'd expect for the price. Could easily keep 20+ years. 97 Suckling, 95 Decanter Decanter: “The dominant cassis …

Not so herbal, more fruit led, and darker fruited than 2015 & 2016, saying that some leafy character comes though on swirling, quite Cab Sauvignon in style; rich, dense entry, nice core of fruit here. Still has a lovely freshness running through it and a mineral element. Very suave tannins. Long, quite delicious.

A wine worth a better destiny, mistreated by me going directly from cellar to glas. No decanting, no air and too cold served at 12 degrees. Still a solid performance, great fruit concentration, massive red fruit, unfiltered texture, a little similar to some C9dP.

Rupert's Bosconia (The Medlar, London) : Deeper, darker, dustier nose. Deep ruby, almost purple. 82%CS and 18% Malbec. Deep, plush, cool-fruited front, but rich and ripe through the mid-palate. A touch of heat on the finish. A bit of blackcurrant leaf and mulberry on the nose to keep it fresh and interesting. Still improving. ****

Had at a wine dinner with the inlaws. Nice purple with some aged edges showing. Nose was excellent with nice black cherry, earth, fine leather, lots of florals, and pepper. Palate of black cherry, black plum, fine leather, florals, pepper, some mint, and chocolate. Finish was long and the mouthfeel was great and the wine was in a great place. Overall this was a fantastic wine, the nose was the highlight of the night, could sit and smell forever. Drink …

Nice dark color with brick-red rim. Matured nose with with flowers, Bdx-kind of dusty earth, blueberries, minerals and hint of blackcurrants. Taste follows the nose, but is a bit more fruit dominated. Nicely integrated tannins, with complex flavors of marmalade and roasted almonds. The 99 vintage of Catena Zapata Nicolás shows the aging potential for these wines. Outstanding blend with 82 % Cab and 18 % Malbec

My favorite of the Catena lineup tasting. Red with bricking brown starting to show. Nose of nice aged cabernet dried cherry, high quality leather, some earth, and mint going on. Palate of dried cherry, currant, baseball glove with a little dirt caked on, mint and almost a balsamic not showing. The finish was long and the mouthfeel was really great. This wine always tends to be my favorite of the lineup when tasting. Had to pick up a bottle even …

Delicious wine! Decanted and consumed over a couple hours. Slight bricking around the edges. Smelled like an aged left bank bordeaux. Beautiful leather, cassis and a touch of mint on the nose. Silky smooth in the mouth. A nice fathers day treat.

A quick double decant and this was still initially showing a fair amount of barric. Some very smooth red and black fruit and violets, with a velvety softness that is quite seductive. There are a good deal of tannins on the back end, yet they are very soft and there seems to be good integration. This bottle kept improving over the entire evening and the initial smoothness and elegance made way to a more complex profile featuring a nice wide …

Great stuff. Pop and poured and drank over 3 hours and it was really showing beautifully after a couple of hours. Nose of dark berries and fruit. No rush to get after this.

Popped and poured. Huge nose with red fruit, damp earth and hints of cinamon/clove. Slight bricking at the rim. Initially, the palate was a little thin and tart but it pulled itself together over the course of an hour after getting some air. Continued to gain complexity, with a mixture of dark and red fruits with some earth on the finish. Good bottle. Will decant the next one I open. Dont think this will improve with more age.

'Casa Ray' offline : Wow, so much bigger than my impression of this from the previous bottle from the same case 3 yrs ago. Last one opened and poured, this one double decanted 24hrs (Hugh reported that it tasted better/more restrained upon initial opening). Dark red and blue fruit. Smokey, savoury, black olive tapenade nose. Again, a very big wine. Maybe it was still closed last time but is now opening up?! Feels massive and in need of a lot …

Very good indeed. Took a while to open up, quite coy at first, merely hinting at it's fruit and structure. Opened out to reveal a very classy nose, an impression that was backed up by the palate. Deep blackcurrant and mulberry fruit with an almost velvety feel in the mouth. A very long way from a new-world fruit monster but a good core of it to combine with the soft tannins to make it very cossetting and comforting. Didn't seem …

82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Malbec. Beautiful nose! Blackberry jam and spices. Medium-bodied. complex and smooth. Blackberries, cherries, dark chocolate, vanilla, licorice and Nancy kept saying cloves, but to me it was allspice. Extremely long finish. I'll wait a couple of more years to open my last bottle, and then, only on a special occasion. 95+pts.

Almost similar to the 1997 vintage but with less barnyard (brett?) aroma. Has less concentration than the '97 but is more balanced. Nice lush dark fruits w/ some hints of coffee & licorice in the background. Good long finish. Tannins are still quite evident but definitely has the stuff to age. A top-flight cabernet! 50+5+13+17+8=93.
