Bricking at rim, deep core, mulled fruit, ‘warm’, iodine, classical; rich fruitcake, plush, some grip on mid-palate; vigorous finish. Long. The Now & next decade.

Great, great vintage Great AOC Very good producer. No surprise, that this wine is simply so delicious. 2 hours in the decanter, it could be 3, because acidity is still so vivid and fresh. Sweet aromas of plum, black cherry, dark chocolate, but on the other hand red cherry, forest, flowers, vanilla ( so good). The taste is bright, fresh, and energetic. Ripe red cherry and red currant, sweet spice, herbs, milk chocolate and vanilla again. Long finish with perfect …

Notes made after 3hrs Dark only colour. Graphite nose. Small berries and raisins on the palate. Noticeably acidity and still some tannins. Good long finish but not sure this has the fruit to balance it out for the long haul.

Bert's pension party part 2; Bordeaux (@ BV) : The first thing to notice is that this wine is fully mature and needs to be drunk now (or next year). So a confirmation of my previous notes. Creamy bouquet with vanilla and other sweet spices, beautiful oak and the same on the palate. Red berries, round and creamy, some pleasant stable impressions, very juicy and a good length.

Opened and tried right away but gets better after an hour. The nose is lightly perfumed, and the color is deep red. The palate is mature with berries, a little pencil, fruit intact, and some tannins that are almost resolved. I remember a few years back that it had shut down but it's now 'open for business'. It's a great right bank Pomerol but I wouldn't keep it much longer as raisin started to come through after an hour.

The Four Seasons Tasting 2006 Bordeaux First Growths (Aubergine Restaurant) : Served in Magnum. Blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. A deep ruby to garnet rim, the bouquet feels rustic and a with some Brett notes. Roasted herbs, cola tonic and some red fruits peek through however. Medium-bodied, the wine opens with a strong cherry elements and moves to smoky, mineral qualities before displaying dense firm but fine tannins. A long poised finish closes with plenty of sweet …

Académie des Cinquante Claret Tasting (Restaurant Rijsel, Amsterdam, NL) : Tasted blind. Develops a lovely nose of earth and truffle, mature but lively, grippy tannins, dry but perfumed finish. Classic Pomerol character. Tasting blind, I thought this was Gazin. Which is a compliment.

Nice lingering after taste with the great softness of Pomerol. Complimenting the softness just the right amount of Tannins. Many years left 94

With two close friends a relaxed afternoon with some Bordeaux (@ My place) : See also my last year’s note. Again a quite developed impression and sediment in the glass. In the bouquet soft red berries and cinnamon. Same on the palate. Good acidity and a pleasant touch of sweetness. Very good wine which is in its maturity stage and will probably stay on that level for another year or two.

This bottle followed an '82 de Pez, which was drinking exceptionally well, so a hard act to follow. Rich vanilla oak upon opening, which gradually gave way to violets, plum, and bay leaf. Smooth and silky, with medium body and silky tannins. I think this will hold and improve for another decade as it develops secondary characteristics, but it is quite enjoyable now.

An easy afternoon with close friends (@ My place) : Slightly garnet rim. In the bouquet cigar, autumn impressions and stable smells. On the palate chocolate, good acidity, some sweetness, slightly sticky tannin and a good length. Beautiful wine, but this bottle was more developed than expected.

2009 Bordeaux 10 years in the bottle 2-day horizontal; 6/23/2019-6/24/2019 (Fribourg) : Part of a grand Bordeaux 2009 tasting spanning 2 days that revealed 1) a right bank struggling with overripe fruit and overwhelming tannins, 2) wide spreak between top performers and laggards, 3) left bank, and especially Margaux, outshone the right bank cousins, 4) Top wines: Palmer, Margaux, Cheval Blanc, Vieux Chateau Certan. Tasting note: Red fruit and herbal. Decent wine overall but nothing out of the ordinary to …

Quite straightforward really. This is a very drinkable modern bordeaux but not much to justify the 30 euro price tag I paid on release. Drinkable now but may perhaps gain complexity with bottle age.

Strong purple colour with no hint of age at the rim. Good plummy / dark but sweet fruited nose with some iron and herbs as well. On the palate, reasonable structure, but still carrying some plushness until the grip on the finish comes through. Pleasure drinking this now, but I'd recommend holding for a few years more before opening.

Blackcurrant, cedar and violets on the nose. Black fruits, oak, pencil lead, well balanced acid and tannins, a dry finish of coffee with some floral notes.
