Mak Shiraz Clare Valley Shiraz

Can't believe this bottle is still alive. Would have bet the house it would be dead. Nothing special, but still a little fruit, cherry mainly with white pepper at end. Muted but what do u expect for something this cheap and this old.

Got better the second night. Big bouquet upon opening but finish long and needed the day to mellow out.

Had this bottle at my brothers. I wasn't as impressed this time with this wine, but still presented many of the elements in my previous note. Re-rated accordingly.

Dark ruby red/purple in class. Nearly opaque. Explosive nose of blackberry, plum, vanilla, cedar, bacon, clove, black pepper, and tobacco. Densely extracted, full-bodied, with firm smooth tannins. Blackberry, clove and menthol dominate the palate, and long slightly astringent finish. A well balanced, fairly complex shiraz, especially at this price point. B+.

a little sweet and felt more viscous than a typical shiraz. paired well with ivory king salmon with a keffir lime infusion.

a perfectly good everyday wine
