Discussion of terroir would be appropriate here. This tempranillo has a beautiful earthiness and a surprising funkiness that I wouldn't normally associate with a rioja or tempranillo. Here it really works. Texture is very smooth, almost reaching "silky." Color is very dark but tending towards a garnet tone out to the edges. The nose opens up with breathing and seems like it will be nice if it gets a chance to age just a couple of years. Typical plum is …
