Decanted 1hour, with lots of typical RF sediment, this particular bottle was showing signs of old age, lovely nose of black and blue fruits, the palate had a good dose of blueberry, dark cherry, port like, however a bit too much anise and licorice on the finish for my taste. Still a pleasure to drink, I hope my remaining bottles fair better than this one.

Decanted for one hour, with expected heavy sediment, this bottle kept getting better with each sip, a rustic wine with lots of black and blue fruit, impressive balance and a long pleasant finish. Paired with wood grilled lamb chops, I see no hurry to drink my last five bottles of this beauty.

Still drinking really well. A bunch of sediment, but otherwise, no tannic bite, dark fruit, long finish.

Tasty rich black berry, cassis, and chocolate on the nose and palate with chewy tannins on the moderate finish.

Decanted for 3 hours. This has evolved beautifully, lovely whifs of iodine and eucalyptus in addition to the expected dark fruit. Luscious, silky and smooth with ample sweet tannins, the perfect companion to a couple of tenderloins.

Decanted 1 hour, cellared for 8 years, paired with BBQ. WOW this bottle was singing tonight, loads of black and blue fruit, tart plum, rustic notes, silky smooth, rich, concentrated but not over the top. This showing was the best of the previous 8 bottles tasted, still have 6 bottles left and no hurry to drink.

Huge amount of sediment on the bottle side. Extremely extracted, with pure fruit, but balanced and nuanced. Dark purple, acid plus (kudos) with focused flavors. Long length and pleasant and flavorful finish.

Decanted for one hour, very rich, rustic, big black and blue fruits, very ripe, chewy, someone mentioned alcohol which did reside in the decanter, turned a bit of menthol like. Certainly no hurry to drink, but ready now with a good decant.

Inky purple. A bit jammy with black fruit and dark chocolate. Initially there was quite an impression of hot alchohol which blew off over time.

First bottle of the ‘08, last vintage of this wine I believe. Have continued to buy the Switchback Ridge version made by Foley until just recently. It has certianly softened a little with age (comparing with other vintages had younger). But currently has a sour cherry note that doesn’t feel quite right for a wine I always have thought of as black and blue fruit focused.

Dark cocoa/chocolate, charred dark fruit, leather, blood and bold chalky tannin. After an hour decant the tannins subsided and this turned into a fun glass of petite. I feel like this is in great window now-considering the balance of fruit and tertiary components.

Tasting at a LWS and meeting an old friend for the first time (WRW) : Someone else had brought this and added it to the tasting. The bottle was almost empty so it had been well aerated. Purple in color. The nose has black raspberries, some charcoal and a bit of plums. On the palate, still some tannins left and the fruit it packed. It is delicious. Needs more time though until peak. Glad for the taste.

In a really nice spot. Big nose, deep color, dark fruits throughout the palate with a medium lengthy finish. Ready now, but could easily last another decade.

May have been an "off" bottle or consumed too soon. Will evaluate after consuming another in 2018.

Decanted 1 hr, not a great showing for th PS tonight, plenty rich, ripe, big and extracted but a bit one dimensional, with some black & blue fruit, the wood seemed to dominate especially towarded the later glasses. Rustic but simple! Paired decently with prime charcoal grilled NY strips steaks.

Big black and blue fruit nose has spice and herbs. Palate has massive structure as you'd expect - big bold fruit and firm, but sweet tannin. A bit monolithic and one note today. Maybe it unfolds to give more with time - but still nice for what it is.
