Crisp and dry, apples and white peach, and a note of toasty lees. A good fine persistent bead, and pleasant inexpensive drinking. Not bad for Lion Breweries, better than their cheap Lindauer fizz, but Daniel Le Brun these days is making far better méthode at his own No. 1 Estate.

Straw, fine bubbles. Pear and peach, a little biscuit, vibrant flavours, simple but nicely balanced. Ap 5/5, Ar 11/20, Palate 17/20, Overall 3+1/10 87/100

A decent sparkling wine for a low-key celebration. Strong hints of Granny Smith apple on the nose, with a whiff of old fashioned ladies' perfume. Mostly apple cider at the start with a little too much bite mid-way through. Finish is quite tart at first, although it gets better with drinking. Not overly dry. Would be well-matched with salmon blini or similar.

Grapefruit/lemon juice and zest, unripe apricots and unripe yellow plums, bitter almond, apple skins. Very tart, very dry. One dimensional, simple. Nothing like the description on the bottle (no yeast/bread/strawberry).
