Dark red at the core, translucent at the edges. Bright berry and spice aromas. Bright, spicy fruit on the palate, cherries, raspberries. Smooth tannins, bright acidity, good balance. Finishes a bit hot with black cherries. Over the course of 45-60 minutes, it switched to brighter and lusher and then became muddled. Nice enough on opening, but I'd drink up. Score given for first 30 minutes.

This has held up beautifully. Rich black cherry nose. Deep, rich dark fruits on the palate, black cherries, raspberries, bit of cocoa. Fine tannins, great acidity and balance. Fruit is lush and coats the palate. Finishes very long and subtle with dark fruits. At peak and lovely. Should hold for 3 to 4 years. Under screw cap. 53% Cabernet Sauvignon; 18% Cab Franc; 16% Merlot; 8% Petite Verdot; 5% Malbec.

Today this wine showed quite well; no decant, fine structure; fruit has matured, no elegance, but no oak nor heat, either; stands up to food quite well; in a blind tasting would def. be pegged as old world; syrah-like pepper, but no syrah in the blend

One of the best things I did was stop buying these wines: too soft and nondescript, vanilla notes; most drinkable when they're v. young and have some grip

Better than the last bottle! This had more substance and depth and less vanilla. Quite enjoyable.

If only this tasted as good as it smelled... V. complex and old-world on the nose, but then flattens out and becomes soft and dull; dominated by vanilla and plum; drink up. If anybody in L.A. wants to buy or trade for three of these... I swear this bottling used to be leaner and more interesting

Very smooth with lots of blackberry with dark cherry, a little burnt sugar and vanilla. Good balance. It is either a shame, or a blessing for the people like us that know about David Coffaro, that he is not more well known. I have never had a bad wine from them.
