Beautiful salmon color that is slightly cloudy. Beautifully mature nose displaying concentrated dry red/pink fruit, raspberry and strawberry jam, dry yellow peach, sous bois, brioche, cinnamon, copper, cep and limestone. Excellent concentration, finely layered sweet red fruit, still showing generous fine mousse, bright acidity and strong limestone mineral, and a long subtle but concentrated red fruit driven finish with mushroom and rose at the end. The expression is similar to the 88 Cristal rose.

This bottle was particularly youthful which took time to open up in the glass. Generally consistent with my previous note but this bottle showed less intensity.

Pink fruit, rose petal, bread crumbs, and peach on the nose. Ripe and intense with fine bubbles. An amazing aged rose.

The best 88 Champagnes from 1988 Part 3/3 Prestige Cuvees from Magnum (L'assiette champenois) : Magnum, not blind Very generous, winey, well balanced, missing a bit acidity. Red berries and some biscuit notes. 95

Direct release bottles. Always have great experience with this champagne! Most important there is still fine bubbles! Berries nose and strawberries fruits. The palate has the amazing red fruits that comes from the Pinot wine which is fully integrated with the vintage juice. Normally I found vintage rose too expensive that I only prefer the normal cuvée because by adding the still red wine only they double the price! Another problem is that the still red never fully integrate ( …

Nice scents of strawberry and citrus. Lovely flavors of red berries with good acids but then oxidative notes on the finish and not in a good way. Past its best or a slightly off bottle.

Past its best. After a few hours took on a very tawn port-like nose, which was interesting.

From Magnum: Similar colour to the 1990 - slightly more orange on the rim; Much fresher on the nose. Autumnal berry fruits and spice. Hints of fig. Really very good indeed; lovely palate with refreshing acidity and complex evolved fruit. Very precise and focused and with a mineral finish.

Very rose colored, slight brown in rim. Bouquet of coffee, toffee and toast. Light mousse. Taste of strawberries. Not very complex

Rusty light orange colour, fully mature (too early for a 88?) with orange peel and spice with steady lazy mousse, very fine bubbles, much better than the memphitic example from magnum earlier in the year.
