Clearly still young: very closed when opening the bottle, took a few hours in bottle and decanting for it to open up. Very mineral and straight, lemon and stone fruit, only the tiniest tertiary aroma. Great concentration and structure and nice finish.

In 2025 lots of candied fruit and caramel toffee notes. Lovely nose, lacks a bit of weight on the mid palate. Still lovingly drinkable

Deep yellow color. In the bouquet yellow fruits, some licorice, tangerine and grapefruit. On the palate juicy pineapple, mango, lime and other citrus, a bit fat, good acidity and a touch of bitterness in the finish.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS: VDP Grosses Gewachs (By BS) : The bouquet is a bit reticent, but shows minerals, grapefruit and some petrol. On the palate candy, grapefruit, beautiful and juicy acidity, dry but also a pleasant touch of sweetness.

powerfull version of the rieslings of Mosell Saar, with still a big amount od SO2 there :) nose of sulfur reduction mixed with exotic ripe fruits, I think of a big bright sauv blanc from sancerre there... A la Dagueneau... palate is tight and sharp with a strong body to it in the mid palate. long and stylish finish... a baby wine on its way of greater time for sure. need to try that in 5/8 years from now...

Sampled during afternoon service at Oinoscent, courtesy of a customer. The wine is flinty, preserved lemon, grapefruit, quince, sugar, pastry, apple and pear pulp, pear cider. In the palate, the wine shows high acidity, mineral, lime,lemon, shows power, feels off-dry, really young, long finish. Outstanding

Light yellow, green shimmer --- Nose fresh, river stones, basil, lots of citrus notes, yellow fruit, peaches, saline --- Palate fresh, smooth, nice acidity, nice flow, nice sweetness, watery, stone fruit, yellow fruits, some peaches, nice citrus wrapping, nice tart aspects --- Finishes pretty long on its sweet, fruity and tart character. Very, very nice vine. So vivid and fresh, balanced and animating. Very tasty.

Dry with refreshing well-balanced acidity, although I was wondering if the alcohol shows a tiny bit? Nice and airy, but not quite as weightless as the lower alcohol bottlings from Saar and Mosel. Nevertheless, I preferred this one to the J.J. Prüm 11 kabinett, which was served at the same time. The Scharzhofberger was cleaner and more interesting on this showing. Love the complexity of the wine with spices, citrus, slate minerality and some floral notes. From d-mag.

At a Van Volxem tasting event. Straw yellow. Reserved nose of quince, apple, minerals and elder flower. Quite soft mouth feel, softer than most Rieslings I know. I prefer more acidic sappyness.

Really powerful tropical nose. Like the Goldberg it has just intensity and concentration, balanced by sharp zippy acidity. Much longer in the finish than the Goldberg with a lovely lingering tropical fruit flavour.

Klaus-siege (At my place.) : Appealing nose with a whole basket of fruits and deep slatey minerality. Full bodied with fine creaminess in the texture. Ripe, thick flavours with well detectable residual sugar sweetness. Dense, serious midpalate accompanied by lots of weighty acidity, impressive, long finish. Profound, delicate and rounded wine.

Wow! Drank this wine with my friend and prefered wine dealer Robert at a BBQ this week (grilled salmon and grilled green asparagus wrapped with Serano ham). We both were blown away from this wine and both rated him 97 points. Sweet fruits, nice acid and mineralic notes in a combination you will have difficulties to find again in this quality. A real blockbuster - enjoy now or for another 3-5 years.

Winery Visit (@ Van Volxem, Saar) : Concentrated and very clean wine. Tropical fruits, beautiful minerals , some candy, all very beautiful. This is a complex and great wine with a beautiful balance between sweetness and acidity. Beautiful now already and until well in the 2020's.

Watery, greenish color. Rather reticent nose with some steeliness, minerality and a touch of tropical fruits. However, the palate is completely different: supple, juicy, full-bodied. Sweetish, mineral and fruity with a nice touch of honey. Though a bit plump, the wine is not heavy at all and the acidity keeps it effectively very fresh and lively from the beginning to the end. However, the sweetness douses the nuances in the finish very quickly, leaving only a faint hint of minerality …
