Weingut Reuscher-Haart Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese

This has held up quite nicely. Smokey and slatey, apple and lime. Not the greatest concentration or intensity but it's quite pretty and easy to drink. Lighter in weight than many of the more modern Spatlesen.

A bit past its prime, this bottle still delivers a pleasant wine with a sweet, acidic mouthfeel. Plenty of apricot and other fruit flavors balanced with some petrol and minerals. Drink now.

Deeper, darker, broader, richer, more expansive and generous, and overall more mature in taste than the 1989. The acidity doesn't cabin the material in the same way here, and while it's not flabby I wouldn't call it precise either.
