Golden Cluster Vinous Obscura Sacris

Unconventional sagrantino. Citrus fruits and rose water on the palate. Light body, tart, high acid. I have “musk” in my notes on the finish (!). A conversation piece. Eye opening, this interpretation of the grape. Worth a try.

So, I'll start by saying I've only had Sagrantino from Umbria. This is very, VERY different from those wines. Lemon juice, grapefruit juice (see, weird for Sagrantino!), bergamot, ripe black cherries, ripe blackberries, ground ginger and red flowers on the nose. Smells very primary, though if you dig there is a hint of wood there. Feels like neutral oak to me. Medium + intensity of aromas. Grape and black tea aroma, firm tannins, juicy fruit, lots of potential

Only the second non-Montefalco Sagrantino I can remember tasting. Aromas of black fruits, prune and wild blueberry jam, wild herbs, blue flowers, grassy olive oil, nutritional yeast and nut flours. Tense and tightly wound on the palate, tangy and grippy, lots of fine tannin and fine acid cut, beautiful clean leesy character, this has the vibe of an unsulfured wine.
