Prior bottle was 19 months ago and this wine continues to show quite well. Peach, apple and mineral notes on the nose with just some hints of pineapple (initially opened too cold). Medium bodied with lots of white peach upfront along with some white pineapple, moving to yellow peach, yellow pineapple and other, mixed white tropical notes behind. 2 days of wine tasting at Hermann J Wiemer, this was the best tasted 6/28/25. Body, flavors, and complexity were exceptional. Wiemer single plot rieslings are in their drinking window up to 10 years after the date on the bottle. Exceptional years can go 15 years or more. Exceptional years 2014, 2015, 2022. If you are at the winery for a tasting, ask about their library selections. The library selections are not on the menu.

Prior bottle clearly had some sort of cork issue that robbed it of just enough vitality to be noticeably different. This bottle fully recaptured my prior impressions. Medium straw color. Nose of ripe granny smith apple, white peach, lemon zest, honeysuckle, a bit of crushed powdery rock. Very pretty. Similar flavors on the palate with a mix of citrus and under ripe stone fruit. Mouthwatering acidity. Medium body and finish. Very high quality FLX riesling.

Medium to deep yellow. Smells like petrol/rubber, pineapple, peach, honeysuckle, Jasmin, cotton candy, herbs, and wet stone. Full body, medium acid, medium (+) finish, with flavors of peach, apple, herbs, and minerals. There's a very slight sweetness, but I wouldn't call it off-dry. Overall a nice wine, though I think it could use more acidity, and seems to want to be drank sooner than later, so I'll be doing so with my other bottle.

Showed well tonight l, lemon zest, lime, apples and spice in the nose, similar palate, although the citrus was more rind Esq with a touch of bitterness, medium plus acidity and medium finish

Clear, bright, medium gold color, silver hue with medium legs. Powerful, youthful nose with ripe green apple, lemon and peach notes with honeysuckle and ginger and a hint of slate giving the perception of sweetness but the wine is vinted dry with low tannin and medium plus acidity, and medium alcohol showing a creamy texture, stone fruits, nicely balanced with a medium + finish. A young cool climate, new world style, Finger Lakes (Seneca West side) single vineyard quality.

This vineyard is closer to the lake and further north which means it’s warmer and the slope isn’t as intense as HJW. This is another beaut, with big flavors of juicy green apple and nectarine, tons of floral aromatics and an impressive, but less intense acidity to go along with it all. Just a bit less minerality than the HJW but also unbelievably good. hand-picked, hand-sorted, whole cluster press, 7 month indigenous yeast fermentation. 9 g/l RS. Drink or hold.

Tasted at the winery. Really pretty nose (again!) with pineapple, peach and floral qualities. Medium bodied with white apple and white peach upfront, showing more definition than my prior tasting. American Rieslings : Nose of rich guava and pineapple and some chalk dusty. Sugar cane and sea salt mix nicely on the palate, rich but pretty, with lots of peach and guava nectar as well as cantaloupe and honey.

Pale straw color. Nose of fleshy stone fruit, citrus and some crushed rock aromas. Similar flavors on the palate with medium to medium+ acidity, smooth mouthfeel and pleasant finish with a hint of sweetness on the back end. Acid was not as high as I would have expected but this was really enjoyable to drink and reminded me more of a German kabinett than a Finger Lakes wine.

Tasted at the winery. Tropical fruit on the nose, medium bodied, but perhaps a little softer than the HJW riesling. 12.5% ABV and 0.8% RS. The Magdalena is much more tropical fruit focused, as compared to the orchard fruit of the HJW. Honeymoon in the Finger Lakes; 10/17/2016-10/20/2016 (FLX, New York, USA) : Tasted at the winery. Also third day open. A notch up from the HJW single-vineyard bottling with improved clarity and a citrus presence. A bit more plush on the entry and mid with an orange streak of clementine and tangerine. "Excellent," 90+/100, again with great potential. At USD$36 this has better QPR than the HJW Vineyard bottling (USD$39), in our opinion.

2016 Finger Lakes Jaunt; 9/25/2016-9/26/2016 (Seneca Lake, NY) : An electric zing, beautiful fruit, just a touch of florality, but not enough to annoy me as it often does. Rings all of the bells for me.

Deeper color. The nose shows ripe aromas of tropical fruits, minerals, orange blossom and a touch of herbs. This is medium light bodied on the palate with good concentration and good finesse. A bit forward though. The medium plus length finish features a mineral element.
