Acker "Paulee" Burgundy Dinner (Capital Seafood - Beverly Hills CA) : Paulée style dinner. Charming example of textbook Vosne fruits and spices, faintly mature. Nicely finessed, borderline Grand Cru density to me.

This was very disappointing, had the up front guts of Richebourg but it had poor follow through, I got sucked in by the cru, buying at auction for outrageous price and got duded, second time I’ve fallen for aged Richebourg from secondary location, lesson learnt.

Off the pop this is not looking good. Sour cherries and dark currant. Dropped it in a decanter and got a sign of life in the form of green stems. Opened up considerably into a ripe although heavily oaked nose with mostly black fruits. Toasty, almost burnt. Palate is a little sour. Currant. The Richebourg muscle does show, this is certainly a big wine. Coaxing gets you some spice, clove. Fresh pours are much better and there a fleeting glimpse …

Quite disappointing really - given the pedigree of the vineyard and quality of the vintage. Dull is the first word that comes to mind. I mean, it is certainly still an outstanding wine compared to all wines of the world, but for a high end Grand Cru Burgundy - that just doesn't suffice.
