Very interesting nose, great value for money

Vibrant nose of ripe dark fruit and some inky notes. Full bodied, robust and acidic, showing layers of blackberries and dark fruit with inky notes, good tannic bite and strong acidity. Muscular but yet very balanced and delicious. Very good with reindeer steak at Eevert.

Tasted blind. Deep ruby red. The nose is medium (+) to intense, with black and red fruit, dried herbs, sweet tobacco and fairly pronounced new oak aromas. The palate is dry, but fruit-forward and consistent with the nose, with medium acidity, medium (+) tannins and high alcohol (15%). Una relectura de los clásicos de la zona. De color picota cubierto. Expresivo, especiado, toques de regaliz, fruta roja, con carácter y un fondo balsámico que lo aligera. En boca entra bien, con cuerpo medio, paso cremoso, tanino intenso pero pulido, buena acidez y bastante persistencia.

Solid Priorat wine, sourced from the terraced ‘La Fredat’ vineyard (llicorella/slate soils) in the village of Bellmunt (Province of Tarragona / Catalunya). Varietal composition: 48 % Samsó (Carinyena), 34 % Garnatxa and 18 % Syrah. Oak maturation: sixteen months in French barriques (50 % new, 50 % second use). Decanted: two hours prior to tasting. 48 Samso (Carignan), 34 Grenache, 18 Syrah. Medium nose gives pencil shavings, white pepper, forest floor, red plum. Palate is dry first, medium plus tannins give grip, then fruit develops into lovely mid-palate and finish, dried cherries, dried blackberries, turned earth. Complexity medium plus, acidity does quite well, finishes with delicious Old World feel.

Spicy well balanced, the Grenache seems to add fruit up front with tannins later. May become ever more rounded over the next couple of year. A great value.

A really good and now very mature Spanish priorat enjoyed at Jaleo in Vegas - paired very well with the tapas. A very good QPR wine at the average CT price. Interesting and unusual blend of garnatxa 30%, cabernet sauvignon 25%, merlot 20%, syrah 15% and monastrell 10%. Dark red, very full bodied, well balanced, present but well integrated tannins, mature and in a great drinking window with a very long pleasant aftertaste. No full notes taken. Deep ruby, 14.5% abv, aroams of black fruits, leater and tobaccco. Dry, medium(-) acidity, medium sweet tannins, medium(+) alcohol and body. Full of blackberry, pepper, leather, candied fruit flavors. Balanced, good length with dry-sweet finish and some remaining alcohol heat. Had it with smoked pork shoulder.

Tannins seem more refined, but still on the harsh side. Good, but not great. Hopefully it will get more harmonious with time.

Nose of herbs and red berries. Full-bodied in the mouth, but the tannins are a bit harsh. Good potential.
