Tulip Mostly Cabernet Franc 2012: As indicated by its name, this wine is made mostly from Cabernet Franc flushed out with 15% Merlot and was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Full body; dark garnet red; aromatic, ripe black fruits, tobacco and dominant black pepper aroma; black currants, smoked plums and pepper on the palate, tangible, Port stile alcohol on medium long finish; powerful, complex but dis-balanced, moderate tannins, low acidity, too sweet, food friendly. Best match to grilled meat. Serve 18º - 22º. Drink now.

This wine is one of those wines that are both very expressive and tannic - which makes me happy. The nose on this wine is black and very green, a lovely balance for a 2012 vintage. The full bodied wine is extracted very nicely, with blackberry, spice, crazy mineral, graphite, intense leather notes and layers of black and red fruit, with tobacco and green notes on a long spicy finish. Very nice.
