Château des Charmes Aligoté St. David's Bench VQA

My first taste of St. David's Bench VQA wine. I like wines from the Niagara Peninsula subregion. The appellation is sheltered by the Niagara Escarpment. Mature vines dig into glacial soils to find water rich in limestone and other minerals. This chateau is located furthest from the cooling effects of Lake Ontario. Aligoté is a Burgundian varietal.

Light straw colour. This is my first Aligoté, as far as I can recall, at least a New World one. Smells like a New World Viognier or perhaps a Chenin Blanc; aroma is dry and acidic, with green apple, pear, and a hint of lemon. The wine has rich flavour and good acidity.
