Popped and transferred directly to a decanter. Heavy sediment. First pour nose is showing heat and an aged syrah character. Clarity is medium. Picking up a dusty floral note as the wine opens and the heat blows off. On the palate there is grippy cherry with a good acid zing, a touch of wet stone minerality. Impressed by this wine. Good heft, medium finish with a little cinnamon spice.

Deep and dark. Syrah shines with a touch of pepper, strawberry and cherry flavors, beautiful raspberry aroma and a nice finish. Better night one so it might be peaking.

Garnet red in the glass. Smooth entry. Fruit forward with candied leather and dark red fruit. Low tannins make it a nice pair with beef stroganoff. A definite drink now wine. Very pleasant solid wine.

unpleasant in every way - poured down the drain

On the nose, cherry and eucalyptus. Palate is full, ripe, lush cherry. A bit out of balance with not enough acidity. This is a big red wine that can't be overthought. Not complex, but not bad. Some interesting earthy tones hiding out. Will hold one for a few years to see if they come out more.

On the PnP this was astringent and nasty. The finish was bitter, and the wine was completely out of balance. As the evening progressed, the finished calmed down a bit, and a very strong white pepper came forward, somewhat reminiscent of a Northern Rhone red. At the end of the evening, I poured the remaining 1-1/2 glasses into a Platypus storage bottle, and squeezed out nearly all of the air. Next night (as I write this), the bitter finish has …

Inky purple, bricked edges. On the nose: licorice, earth, vegetal. On the palate: red fruit, licorice, with a driving black pepper on the finish. Finish slightly short and slightly hot which was surprised me given the age on the bottle. Really complex wine that transforms from start to finish, just a little too much going on in this one.

I can tell why people rated this in the mid 80's. This one is a solid 90 due to complexity, integration, and nose alone. This wine is 2/3 Grenache and Syrah probably about evenly distributed, with the remainder being grapes you haven't heard of. Since a wine that says Napa Valley needs to fall between the left stick and the right stick, when something doesn't (this wine), the pundits will rate it low. This tasted like a northern Rhone wine …

Overripe cherry syrup with just enough charcoal and hint of herbs to make it slightly interesting. Still just overripe. Not my favorite style.

Really enjoyed it. Good fruit, good finish. Sad to hear they will no longer be making wine.

Cherry, herbs, fennel, licorice, spice, sweet bit of chocolate. Nice acidity, smooth, good balance, very new world finish. Good, improved with food and air.

Not sure if bottle time has added weight, but this was a bigger wine than expected with some charcoal notes on the backend. Even though ripe, this is no fruit bomb because the of the balancing notes. Nice wine. Needs food in my mind.

1st of a case, popped and poured right off the UPS truck. Sweet berry fruit nose, some licorice and spice, bit of oak. Soft, supple fruit-driven GSM with a touch of mocha. Nice acidity, medium finish, I look forward to tasting this over the next year. NR

Nice blend but a little unbalanced, a bit on the flabby side

Fall Bachanalia (Green Dolphin St, Chicago IL) : nose: nice and silky nose of blackberries, cranberries, sour cherries, and some spice tones taste: very silky and elegant with tones of sour cherries, blackberries, and anisette notes overall: very elegant with a smooth sour cherry attack that glides across your tounge with a anisette finish. Lots of polish and class to this, with decent depth and solid acidity+tannins
