Dr. Loosen, Wehlener Sonnenuhr Alte Reben Riesling GG, Mosel

Medium gold in colour with lovely aromas of petrol, wet gravel & blossoms. On the palate, medium bodied, tart & juicy citrus, lemon/lime, petrol, floral, green apple, brioche, creamy mouthfeel, high acidity with a long finish to lemon zest & chalky minerality. This is pretty classic German Riesling with very noticeable minerality. Very nicely done!

Took some time to open, quite closed. But then it arrrived, looking like loosen. A full, generous fruit, accent on the citrus, creamy presence. Surprisingly young. #Das Weinhaus #Trier #Dannelsestur4.0

It’s ok, and at that price only deserves a 90. It was rather flat, a bit bitter, no depth. We had it another Riesling at a third of the price just before, and we both felt the other one was a better drinker. Great aromas wafting from the bottle, though: so I had high hopes initially.

Minerals and stony feeling. Lemon and apples are primary, complemented by pineapple and lychee. No real petroleum, but starting to mature and get rounder. Acidity is rich, but not dominant. Very good, not extra ordinary but really nice.

Medium, slightly goldie lemon in colour with significant petulance on the the glass. Lovely aromas of citrus, green apple, blossoms & petrol. On the palate, medium bodied citrus, lemon/lime, green apple, peach, honey, blossoms, creamy mouthfeel, high acidity & a long finish to spice & crushed gravel. Lovely, slightly off dry but the backbone of acidity balances off the sweetness & the flavour is terrific!

Very fresh and inviting nose. Herbs, citrus, some greenness too (in a good sense). So tight and engaging. Salivating. Just needs some more fruit/intensity for higher points. 17.5/20

Riesling Riot downunder (Town Hall, Sydney) : Quite rich with touches of black tea, crushed rock, yoghurt, lemons and peaches. Juicy acidity but tending to a little flabbiness and ending with an almost creamy note. Hmm
