This has become more dry with age and a lot of the sugar seems to have precipitated out. I think I liked it more around age 10, but this is still excellent.

Impressive Alsatian Riesling. Lovely aromatics and aged Riesling profile. Great acidity and a lingering finish. Enough unctuosity and perception of sweetness/fruit to go with spicy food but I also enjoyed it with oysters. Good for many more years.

In top form right now, good acidity and balanced sweetness, no sign of early oxidation in this bottle which has been an issue with Weinbach for me in the past.

More akin to Chablis than most Rieslings- rich and slightly creamy mouthfeel but with perfect acidity to balance it. This bottle reminded me of Clos Ste Hune - it's not quite at that level but damned good for the price.

Bright light golden color; nose to me speaks predominantly of crushed sea shells and lime, with added notes of pineapple, grapefruit and white flowers. On the attack, the initial impression is of intense salinity, followed by lime in the (seamless) mid-palate and finish, with minerality coming to the fore as the finish lingers. Riesling rendezvous (Bern, Switzerland) : I am having a hard time finding the nose. Faint aromatics with a hint of white peach. Mmm, steel and citrus on the palate. A hint of honey. Textbook dry Alsatian. Really lovely, and it opened up well across two days.

From 75cl, perfect cork. This finally started to show its high quality about 2 hours after opening. At peak: Classy smoky aroma; ripe lime and fresh saline sweat entry; tingling mid-palate acidity with weighty minerality; shortish but whistle-clean finish. Earlier on in the evening it was a nice, clean, medium-dry Alsace Riesling, but not remotely worth the 37,50 EUR retail price... Assertive. Sweet petrol nose, then petrol, grapefruit, bright lime, and approaching green olive brine type flavors, minerals peeking through the core towards the finish. Reminded me of what like about southern italian whites but with riesling body and fruit. Terrific.

Expressive nose, color of dark straw, a bare hint of sweetness initially which is then balanced by waves and waves of green fruit and acid. It's starting to gain some complexity and would be great with seafood or Cantonese food.

Detailed and dry though not at all light, great structure and depth and long lingering finish - more power than what your would expect from many Josmeyer, Boxler and Trimbach's. I am not sure why I did not buy more from Weinbach. RIP Laurence

2007 Weinbach Riesling and Gewurztraminer (Vin Vino, Palo Alto) : Less fruit and more florality than the Theo. It already has incipient petrol. Drier style and slightly weightier with some mint in addition to good buffering fruit and sugar. Excellent acidity and beautiful feel. The best part is a powerful, intense, soil-infused finish which rises and expands in the back of the mouth. Classic wine that warms my Trimbach-loving heart.
