Nice but not the balance of mineral and fruit i expect for wine this price. good but not great. Still has lots life left ... maybe not at a peak point.

nice tannins, not too complex but sits on the tongue for several seconds after tasting. Happy with the wine, paid $50 so QPR is in line with price, actually pretty good for the price paid. Wont 'necessarily seek out again but I did enjoy the wine.

Bursts with densely packed black currants, plums, smoke, and sweet oak, all wrapped around a dusty frame of gorgeous structure, tensile acidity, and tactile fruit purity. Ends with youthful vitality at the finish line. Hasn’t hit its stride yet but it’s hard not to like where it's at in its evolution.

Second vintage of Ruston Family La Maestra Cabernet Sauvignon for us, not as expressive on the nose as the 2008 but with some more aged characteristics to it. Deep ruby red with a slight garnet edge. Lots of sweet spices and dark berries on the nose. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium to medium plus bodied. Layered palate with a spice kick to start, some earthy characteristics and dark berries. A little damp showing the age as well as some dark …

Decanted: ½ an hour – Not Long Enough! Color: Deep, ink-like, opaque, purple-ruby, with a slight browning very subtly around the edges. Nose: Alcohol right off the bat due to the piss poor decanting time. Okay now working around that . . . .So there’s raspberry, cherry, and great dark fruit. Hints of vanilla, and cocoa, with certain herbaciousness. Ya know there’s a eucalyptus aroma with a little menthol heat off in the background. Taste: Quite a nice drink. This …

Beautifully floral and perfumey nose, excellent palette but lacking concentration and a little lean. Aromatics are exceptional, but fruit is just OK.

Wow. 3 hours in decanter. Crazy burnt cherry pie on the nose, wet forest floor and branches, crystallized sugar, slight distant animal funk, even some piney herbal and flowery notes. Fat and black berries on the palate, but delicate in the mouth. I expected a tannin punch, but it wasn't there. Like a refined debutante who came from a bad family across the tracks. So lush on the finish, but not tired at all. Again, wow. PJG: 92/93

Pretty silky. Lots of fruit, nice balance given you like more extracted wines. Enjoyed quite a bit with tenderloin steak.

Decanted: About 2 hours or so Color: Deep, Dense, Opaque Ruby-Purple with a slight browning around the outside edge. Nose: Cherry, Dark Fruits, Fresh Jam, with hints of Cocoa and Eucalyptus. Taste: Nice and very mellow. A well-balanced sip from the beginning, middle, through the end. Hello cherries and dark berries! I also see you hiding my little cocoa, smoke, and slight pepper spiciness, you rascals you! You know the more we taste this; there is a quick sweetness on …

ummmm.... yummy? a good drink young cab. some may argue not worth the price tag, but depends on what you want. good fruit, not over extracted, when younger (4-6 years) has acidity and a freshness that makes it great with a filet or veal. drink before your second bottle of 15% over extracted fruit bomb.

I enjoyed this. Had at the J&G Steakhouse in DC. Very young and full of blueberry pie. Not super full a little thinner than I expected but very tasty. I was more let down by the steak - a snake river farms sirloin that wasn't as good as any SRF steak I've had before.

YUM -- well balanced on palate (should have opened for 1 hour not pop and pour) and great nose.

Big fan of this wine. First time drinking it. Ordered at dinner, so minimal breathing. Had the 2010 Mark Herold cab before this one, and preferred the Salus. Rutherford Dust, round red fruits and a long finish. Will be trying to find some of this for my cellar. Easy 93, and could improve with more oxygen and/or cellar time.

Big fruit, slightly jammy but not overly complex. Very light tannin, green tea, dark blue and black cooked fruit and a medium finish.

Popped, decanted and poured - paired with a wide assortment of wine friendly appetizers (cheeses, cured meats, olives, nuts, pickled currant, toasted breads) at Talloula in Birmingham, MI with friends. This wine sings in every way. Can't beat the deep dark, inky, glass staining color! The demure nose was due to not allowing the wine ample time to breathe - but the taste was fantastic with an old world styled profile. Dark berries, vanilla and spice carried well through the …

Give it 30-45 min to breathe and let some of the oak and alcohol off. Lots of Rutherford dust and nice touch of fruit. Could get more for your money elsewhere, but this is solid none the less.

Honeymoon Wine Tasting; 6/25/2012-7/3/2012 (California - Napa & Sonoma Counties) : Tasted at Winery. Purple in color, with mineral, dust, earth, green pepper, and berry on the nose. The flavors tended towards the earth more than berry side. This was a very light and approachable cabernet with minimal tannins. The finish was somewhat dry.
