Viognier from Condrieu is unlike any other white wine and this is a pretty good example of it. Nectarine, orange blossom, lemon, spice and floral notes. Oily and refreshing at the same time. Drink now.

From the appellation that is the most famous in the world for its Viognier. Pale gold with aromas of fresh peach and apricot fruits. Enters the mouth with a rounded texture and an acidity that is more soft than crisp. The swallow is the best part of the wine taste because the acidity is brighter, the fruit taste is fresher, the mouth is coated, and the flavors go out better integrated. A good introduction to the Condieu appellation but without …

Similar profile to a 2015 tasting but a touch better in balance and integration. Orange liqueur, stone fruit and exotic spice notes. Still finishes hot but better than before.

A good introduction to wines from Condrieu, which is the appellation most famous for Viognier, which captures the classic taste of highly aromatic fruit and flowers with an oily and and fuller texture and body. The fruit part is closest to pear and fresh apricot, but is subtle rather than powerful. The acidity is unusually bright for a Viognier, bordering on being refreshing and even crisp, and the wine finishes dry rather than sweet. Around $35 a bottle, moderately priced …

Well balanced and fruity. Nice acidity. Peach, pear, and tropical notes. Clear oak. Slightest hint of petrol.

Great QPR. Notes from previous tasting still apply. Smooth finish. This should drink well over the next year or two.

Wine Wednesday (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)) : Medium gold color. Drank 2 glasses over an hour. What a distinct aromatic and pretty nose, peach floral, pear, tropical, and a hint of fusil like character. The palate is medium full bodied, round and good viscosity, nectarine, pear, peach, tropical, fleshy ripe fruit, just that hint of fusil here too, good length. Very good. Would have been even better in the heat of summer. 90+pts.

Clean and crisp. Smooth and light on the tongue. Melon, orange, lychee notes. Refreshing. Hard to find Condrieu in the US without making a trip to France. Outstanding buy from WTSO.

Not a typical Condrieu. Grass, and minerality with subtle tropical fruit.

Strong with topical fruit and orange notes with exotic spice and a sharp finish.

Popped and poured, light golden straw hue. Nose of subtle tropical fruits, honey and root vegetables. Light body. On the palate, this shows a profile more of stone fruits along with odd, yet somewhat interesting vegetal notes which lend an underripe quality to the fruit...perhaps a touch of oak and hints of minerals as well. Decent acidity on the moderate close, certainly not a flabby Condrieu stereotype in any way. Hard to say where this going, seems as though it …

utterly soft, so much so that it could be confused with a buttery chardonnay

I believe this was my first bottle of Condrieu. It had a nice balance of fruit and minerality. Looking forward to trying other producers' bottles.
