Domaine Duclaux Côte-Rôtie Côteaux de Tupin

Fantastic wine! I was afraid to open it so early, but it’s fully approachable and enjoyable already. Although, it probably has many years to go, given its solid structure. Beautiful fine floral and light fruit aromas, complex palate with black cherry and blackberry mixed with layers of mildly salty minerals and integrated but distinguishably crisp structure completed with soft tannins. Very balanced.

Flickinger Tasting at The Casino (Chicago, IL) : A wine I didn't know existed, but was mighty surprised at the quality here. It reminds me quite a bit of the 2018 Domaine Jamet with its light-on-its-feet character despite the ripe vintage. Quite meaty with some moderate saline notes on the nose, this comes across as archetypal top shelf syrah.
