When you first get it into the decanter it has some cheesy and nutty aldehyde things going on that aren't really that pleasant. Several hours later it has morphed into something very good. There are whiffs of chocolate, chestnut, decaying rose and meats. It is full and vinous with loads of savoury nuance. There's bright acidity to the wine and still some chew from the tannin. It was splendid with a slow cooked shoulder of pork.
