This wine reminds me why we age Syrah. Upon opening the unfiltered wine, a sludgy sediment promised good things. Somewhat light depth of color cast some suspicion. But one whiff of the powerful nose had me praising it out loud: a sublime mix of tobacco, cedar, and tar ... if that sounds unappealing, aged Syrah might not be your thing. Rings my bell. Like fine CorINthian leather! Some acidity carries the juicy, still-fruity palette. Long finish. My only lament is …

As others have indicated, there had to be some material problems with the production of this wine. $34 price tag notwithstanding, this sucked...and we have had plenty opf Syrahs...bed, mediocre, flawed, etc. It was not flawed in the sens of TCA, which we all know well. This was in a class by itself. I tried to enter this on CT with a score of 42, but it was rejected as too low. I need to talk with Eric about this... …

Medium red. Unusually herbaceous nose, of complex yet oddly-chemical notes, with green grass, rubber, bacon, compost, mint elements coming and going all at once. Medium high acidity, low tannin. Lean cherry fruit fights with unbalanced high acidity. My guess is young vine fruit, overcropped, under-ripened, perhaps even mis-adjusted in the winery; it's a very cool climate site. Not my style of syrah.

Very vegetal and acidic with no fruit to support it. Surprised this one didn't last 9 years as I had high hopes for this bottle.

I was a little worried after reading Whine-oh's review since I purchased this from the same Winebid batch. Surprisingly good with cherry and black berry fruit that improved over the hour it was consumed. Drink now.

Wow, not sure what to make of this.. other than it was gonzo.. a bad bottle or just past its drinking window.. Sourness noted on the bouquet that over shadowed the mild blue fruit... It did mellow over several hours.. deep and dark in color. The palate was just plain sour. It did not rally over the next 2 hours. I had multiple tasters give it a try with sour faces that were priceless... A winebid purchase from a few …

Tasted aslong side 2005 Boheme Que Syrah Vineyard Syrah. Interesting comparo Deep Deep Ruby color. Clear, pretty wine Funky smell blows off after an hour or so. Cherry, dried cherry, dried fruit. Not quite pruny Really velvety mouth feel. Heavy bodied bright tart Dark Cherry, Aromatics(sage & juniper), Green Olive & licorice finish, sweet tannins Like a CherryBomb Martini with a big stinkin olive in it. Not an entirely unpleasant combination. Good with Roasted pork. If this wine was a …

Tasting Group Dinner - Northern Rhone at Heidi's (Heidi's, Minneapolis) : Tasted blind. I guessed Sonoma Coast Syrah. After an initial blast of stinky funk, the nose settled down to reveal a fragrant blend of crushed blackberries, pepper, and game. Medium-bodied and somewhat soft, with a palate that reminded me of a more restrained version of Alban or Pax. Fresh and complex.

nose: really nice full nose of cherry, black berry, red currant, red fruit, and as it evolved with more air, even some watermelon aspects taste: really nice and smooth with cherry, blackberry, red fruit, and a bit of watermelon overall: very nice as it evolved and got more air at the tasting. Good full feeling on the palate and really drinking great right now

This wine is really singing. I have always loved this wine and have gone through almost a couple of cases, but I now have just three left. While it is delicious now, I bet it may still improve somewhat. Very Northern Rhone-ish in style, not over-ripe, bacon, smoke, dark berries, a lot going on. Too bad Ehren is no longer making wine from these grapes. Awesome wine...

A deep ruby color to start. Lots of roasted notes, like rare steak au poivre, bracing acid on the nose and herbs (sage maybe). The mouthfeel was again rare beef and acid, fresh cracked pepper, black cherries, and a long finish. I really liked this one. Reminded several of us of a slightly scaled down Bonaccorsi Larner vineyard syrah. A more edgy and I thought interesting foil to the Failla syrah was had last week (RM please remind me which …
