My last tasting note on CT for this Champagne dates back to 2012, so it's nice to revisit after all these years. 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier. Varietal by varietal, in stainless steel vats. 5 to 10% of wine vinified in old Burgundy oak barrels. 50% reserve wines, which are mostly 10-20 years old. This bottle was degorged 2019. Day 1: Glasvin Champagne Stem. Disgorgement 2020. Outstanding again with saline, minerals, grapefruit, dough, biscuits and lime. Very tasty for sure. 92 points

Light yellow color in the glass. Mild aromas of fresh green apples and citrus. On the palate, refreshing and crisp flavor notes mirroring the wine’s aromas. Very pleasant, slightly tart finish.

Disgorged 2021. Quite rich with lovely yellow fruit, coffe and nice balance but with surprising freshness. No hurry with the remaining bottles.

MEC 2017, DEG 2020 excellent champagne which benefits from 6 years after degorgement : you can taste lots of nuances and aromatic hints which give the expected complexity. Perfect bubbles. After a long bike ride to Lago d'Orta

The best "everyday" champagne value there is. Drank half on Saturday, put under a good enclosure and drank the rest on Thursday. And it was even better! Definitely some heft and body to this, not anemic like the other value champs out there.

Light-medium color. Drank a couple glasses over 2 hours. Still in good shape, so toasty, filled with brioche, golden fruits, apple, apple peel, marzipan. Delicious.

Sam's birthday (My house) : 2015 base. Very pleasing middle of the road style, with attractive citrus and apple, no sharp edges and also without any obvious flavour development. Perfect for glugging at a party (three bottles drunk, each showing identically).

Very intriguing and intense bubbles. Fresh granny Smith Apples, White flowers and a little touch of brioche. Excellent NV champagne and QPR. Paired with scallop crudo topped with caviar.

Definitely have learned that the disgorgement date on NV is a real important small fact. Even so, still too lazy to look. But, the special years of this with a great base can rival many vintage offerings with ease. This one, not so much. It was crisp, fresh, with a good amount of citrus and zing, but just lacked the richness and all the toastiness that the good ones hide. Still a great value.

On the palate both pastry notes and fruit are present. Acidity is high and the finish is long. The best wine in the lineup. Its layering and aromatic complexity are very impressive. It paired best with the snacks.

Bought a bunch of these years ago and down to only one after this one. Wonderful again with saline, shells, orange peel, sour apple, biscuits and minerals. Very refreshing and most satisfying for the $29.99 I paid. Disgorgement 2020.

Jimmy’s 39th. Great bottle to start the evening. Beautiful salmon color and plenty of bubbles remaining. Reminded me somewhat of the 1985 we had years ago. Lovely champagne.

2005 vintage

Nose has a lovely lime and brioche character, a touch of tarragon in the margins. Palate lime and pear skin led, just a touch of ginger on the mid palate. Hint of elderflower tonic on the finish. Lovely fizz

Best bottle of a 4pk purchased a few years back. Yeasty, vibrant, clean mousse. Perfect apertif.

Excellent as always. Based on this bottle the 2018 caves/2021 disgorgement bottles are ready to roll. This has developed some attractive crème caramel, toasted nut Maillard character on top of the buttery pastry, baked apples, and citrus curd. A great example of why this cuvee is such a winner and qpr champ, nothing delivers this kind of broad shouldered, rich, and mature profile at this price point.

Probably at its best right now. Salmon color, fine bubbles, powerful and balanced with great finish. Perfect pairing with a veal tartare & caviar!

2005 vintage

We normally rate this 90 and really should be there but on this occasion and unfortunately they do not provide much details the wine felt flabbier, sweeter and with less presence and structure. 89

‘08 base. Doesn’t come of as very mature, has many years ahead. At this point a lively and seemingly young and fresh wine.

Mag. 15 base. Pale to mid straw. Nicely mature, some biscuit and butter combined with freshness. In a lovely spot with good line and positive finish. A crowd pleaser with interest and complexity. ****

The Charles Heidseick NV has always been a consistent and impressive Champagne. Typically 41% Chardonnay, 41% Pinot Noir, 18% Meunier. By the restaurant glass so no disgorgement info but this always has attractive maturity and a long drinking window.

New Years Day: Vrai Champagne, Ninth Annual Edition (Brad & Marcia's Place, St. Paul, MN) : Light Sockeye salmon color. Small pour. Brief note. This was still good, but was not at the level of past bottles. The fruit was faded and it was not as bright overall, a little angular on the finish as well. This one was showing some age. I have one that was a gift lurking about, and I don't think I will wait very long …

Day 1: Disgorgement 2020. Biscuits, lemon, floral, lime, minerals, orange peel and grapefruit. Wonderful stuff. Medium plus finish. 93 points Day 2: Outstanding with lemon, spice, floral, orange peel, chalk, apicots, grapefruit and saline. Medium finish and nice acidity. These continue to be my favorite NV for the money from Champagne. 93 points Recommendation: Outstanding stuff.

Drank in a Riedel flute. Fine bead. Pale gold color, bright and clear. Lively aromatics of lime, slate, biscuit, wheat, jasmine, and ginger. Racy on the attack, richly textured, full and deep, with mineral accents throughout. Elegant and plush. Zesty finish with solid length.

Aggressiivinen mousse, hapokas, nuoren oloinen. Vihreää omenaa, briossia tai enemmänkin paahtoleipää, hienonhienosti marsipaania. Maku toistaa aromit ja on rakenteeltaan hienostunut, pitkä, mutta silti kovin nuorekas. Jälkimaku on erittäin paahteinen ja leipäisä.

2019 base vintage Good as always. Perhaps served a touch too warm.

This was drunk immediately after a Henriot Magnum BdB and both tasted similarly delicious and biscuity.

Probably the best entry level Champagne of the Grand Marques. Smooth and round on the palatte with ripe apple and subtle brioche on the nose. Reserve wines from the last 20 years and 5 years ob the lees just give this Champagne something the others lack…depth and complexity!

Love it, great QPR

Friends and family over tonight. Very solid offering that I got for $29.99 a few years back from my friends at Morelli's. Sour apple, chalk, spices, pear, minerals and baked pie crust. Delicious.

40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier. Base vintage 2020, disgorgement 2025. Pale golden. Aromas of fresly baked brioche, yeast, pear, peach, toasted almonds. High acidity, balancing dosage. Very young.

Notes of stone, pear and brioche. Overall, a good entry level NV champagne.

It just finishes on “my toaster slightly burned the top half of my morning toast” toasty bitterness and that’s displeasing to me.

First time with this & quite enjoyable, 2019 base; delicious, drink or hold

(16/20) Always a pleasant Champagne. Round style, lovely acidity, well-made. Medium+ intense aromas of apple blossom, jasmine, yellow apple, white grapefruit, lime, white peach, wet stone, toasted bread, brioche, cream, almond. Off dry wine, high acidity, light body, pronounced flavour intensity, bit aggressive mousse, long finish. 12% ABV - 8 gr/l dosage - €54,50 -> €46 @ Aarts wijnen

Toasted notes on the nose. On the palate toasted brioche, a hint of ocean breeze, apples, bright acidity. Great value.

Light yellow. A gorgeous nose of orange precedes the soft entrance in the mouth. Fresh, tense and balanced, with ripe citrus fruits and a touch of creamy chalk.

Base wine from 2018. A bit developed color. Aromas of dried yellow fruits, like apricot, in addition to lime, nuts, maillard-aroma and some toast. Made in a rich, fruity and ripe style, with some sweetness and a long and tart finish.

Ready to go. Very nice.

Lovely rose-gold colour in the glass with a fine biscuity nose. Strawberries and cream and a little nuttiness. Lovely elegant palate, languid bubbles with a round creaminess hemmed in by a zingy citrus acidity. Long yeasty finish with a little mushroom. Delicious stuff.

2006 vintage

Craig's 70th birthday and Brian's 50th birthday (Tilia) : This was my favorite Champagne tonight (didn't get to taste the Krug, Grande Anne, Comte or the Cristal). It is clearly a step up from their NV rose. Slight red fruit, chalky, a little funky, leesy.

It's a Big Birthday Celebration (Tilia, Mpls) : Light-medium sockeye salmon color. Small pour. Wow, this is so toasty and filled with toasted almonds and roast hazelnuts, pretty red berries, high toned, musk, cedar shavings, deep and layered, long. Bold, certainly no wallflower here. This was an impressive bottle.
