Comes across too woody and with air too buttery. When drunk young, it had enough going on to cover the areas that need support elsewhere.

Very pure and seamless in the mouth. This is just another example of the tremendous winemaking ability of the Aubert team.

Golden color. Popcorn on the nose. Grilled lemons on the palate. Great if you, like me, are a fan of the style.

Five (5) years since last visit. Noticeably darker in color. Aromas of peach, pear, lemon curd prevail with accent of orange zest. Previously unruly in its infancy, several years of bottle age have softened edges and ushered in additional flavor profiles of butter popcorn & butterscotch. Richly textured on the palate with excellent balance. Lively acidity drives evenly distributed finish. Drink now. Squarely in its drinking window.

Color- golden. Transparent. Slight lemon yellow tinge. Nose- oak, vanilla, caramel, sultana Palate- lemon and lemon pith. Oak. Some vanilla and orange peel. There is a persistent and pleasant bitterness in the secondary flavors. And nice, but not assertive acidity. Classy. Maybe more on the Montrachet side, rather than the Chablis. Very enjoyable at this point but it feels and tastes young…so, if you’ve got several bottles maybe hold back a few for another 2-4 years.

I know it is young, but this was absolutely delicious right out of the bottle. Intense Chard characteristic flavors which lasted all three days it took to finish. I will hold my remaining bottle for a number of years, to taste and compare age to youth for this wine. Mark Aubert: you the man!

Beautiful bottle of Chardonnay! Citrus and honeyed undertones explode on the tongue upon first sip followed by racing acidity. Although it is very young, it is still a great pleasure to enjoy now. Consider decanting for an hour.

Light golden color. Still very young. Vanilla and lemon that’s not quite ripe yet. Very good. Will try another glass in 24 hours and then another bottle in 2-3 years.

Lovely young wine. I agree with previous post, this will get better in time. Reductive nose, not as perfumed or intense as some Auberts, but pleasant. High acid, and layered on the palate.

Definitely needs a decanting. Once aerated, the wine displays muted but nonetheless crisp notes of nectarines, kiwi, and yuzu citrus, followed by hints of vanilla pudding. Resembles a Rivers Marie Chard on the fore-palate, with a touch more salinity. Unfortunately, finish is marred by the bitter burn of alcohol. Not a seamless wine at this stage, but the hope is that it will mellow out and integrate with time.

White peach, vanilla, hazelnut, tropical fruit nuances, white pepper, pineapple, a touch of weighty oak, an overall gorgeous and complex structure, but still too young, sharp acidity

We arrived back from LA too late of Sunday to meet our friends for sushi so we moved it to Monday. White flowers with hints of lemon on the nose. The palate was pear, hints of apple, lemon curd and the faint taste of orange peel. The finish was long and smooth. As with most Aubert wines the closer to room temperature the better.

Pop and pour. In the glass, pale-medium yellow, ever so slightly cloudy. On the nose, lemon peel, wet stone, and oak. On the palate, clean and focused, bright lemon on the attack, opening into a more lush and silky mid-palate with minerality, subtle tropical fruit (mangoes?), and a touch of smoke, building to a bracing, crisp finish. Somehow elegant, lush, and austere, all in one taste. Very nice.

Larger scale and more opulent than the 2017 CIX consumed next to it. Preferred the (relative) balance of the CIX. Held it's own with Turkey day fare.

Like so many Aubert Chardonnay’s, this has an unbelievable complexity with tasting notes of grapefruit, pear, apple, peach and orange peel. There are so many flavors in each sip, you feel you’re missing something…like a touch of butterscotch. Super long finish that lingers for a minute. Just pop and pour…this Chardonnay is ready to go right out of the bottle.

In a really good spot right now. The herbal front, juicy yellow fruit dense middle and white pepper with oaked finish is a delightful combination and the UV-SL usually delivers this from day one. There are some Aubert Chards that I really do prefer age on -- this is one of them. There are many others, however, that drink great from the start and then change and morph into another awesome experience, and this is one of those! A lot …

I usually prefer a couple more years on these Aubert chardonnays. But sometimes it's fun to check on their evolution and I haven't tried any of the '18's yet. So this bottle was the sacrificial lamb. Once I popped the cork I knew this was going to be a treat. As others have noted, this is just starting to enter its prime drinking window. Will it improve in a few years? Am I guilty of infanticide? Definitely. But I'm glad …

Recently the Auberts haven't been resonating with me as much as they used to. Some of them have felt big, blunt, overly powered. I've found that more restrained California or Oregon chardonnays were more my speed. But, a reasonable counterargument could be: hey dude, wait a few years - they'll mellow out and settle down. Pushing 50 myself, this resonates. So, here's an Aubert that was strong-like-ox in its youth with a half decade of age under its belt. What's …

Nose of tropical fruits mainly. Palate is a bit disjointed at this stage; oak, minerality and acidity are all there but just not (yet?) dancing together. Some bitter aftertaste which hopefully will resolve with age.

Was trying to sit on these for a few more years before opening another, but was looking for a special white for a belated valentine's day dinner and this jumped out at me. On the first evening it showed the usual Aubert quality, but definitely on the young side, with zippy citrus notes prevailing before finding more depth on the finish. Not surprisingly, this showed much better on the second day, with more floral notes on the nose and a …

Nose shows a little toasty oak influence but there’s nice oily fruit notes of lemon oil and a slight honey note Palate is smooth, oily, rich and quite long. Lemon oil, honey, glycerin, hints of barrel spice all add to the complexity . Very enjoyable . Would buy again .
