Loads of acid. Young. Nutty and lots of precision. Energy and pretty linear still but so so good. A good mix of lemon, yellow fruit, white flowers, some spices and good nuance. A wine that needs you to think about it. Great showing.

White floral nose that is intricate and pretty, if less showy and distinctive than Coche-Dury. On the palate this is just spectacular. Immensely flavourful yellow fruit, tropical and orchard, but texturally weightless with a laser precise lemon/lime finish. Youthful and highly energetic. Bottle no. 147 out of 814 goes down in glorious, if premature, fashion.

From the wine list at Relais d’Auteuil (Paris; now closed). Last bottle, sadly. We were just getting used to ordering this wine every year during our stay in Paris on our way to Burgundy or on the way back home. Ordered the 1997, as well, which was more advanced, but still delicious. The 1999 is in a perfect place right now. Nuts, citrus, orchard fruits. Fantastic wine.

My 50th extravaganza (Chez moi) : Such a vibrant and mineral wine, showing real class and extreme precision. Citrus galore here, and wine seems extremely young – although approachable. Great wine in the making, and I would wait for it a couple of years still. Provinence JR

It was lightly honeyed but looked youthful. At its heart was something cool and rocky and the palate was sappy and unctuous. It possessed typical Chevalier shape with a strong spine underpinning all of the flesh
