Monastero Campanaio

Probably not too many years ahead of it, but still pretty special. Gorgeous aged Bordeaux nose, with a near perfect balance of fruit and pencil shavings. The cedar and graphite notes are prominent in the palate, with ripe raspberry and cherry notes on the finish. If served blind, I might peg this as a 25+ year old classed growth Bordeaux. A stunner at $40. Sadly, my last bottle of this vintage.

This has evolved and developed more secondary characteristics. Beautiful nose of cherry and pencil shavings. Nice cherry notes on the palate, which slowly give way to cedar and leather. Finish isn’t as complex as before, but this is still a really nice wine.

Half cabernet, half merlot. Tremendous power and flavors. Tannins are rough now, but should come into balance in three to five years, at which time I suspect this will be a 95 point wine.

Consistent with my previous notes. A great wine.

This is such a beautiful wine. Lovely smoke, leather, and sweet fruit on the nose, with a whiff of graphite. Nice fruit on the palate, with notes of strawberry and cherry. Smells like an aged Bordeaux and tastes like a nice Napa Cab. Wonderful.

Absolutely lovely perfumed nose. Modern style wine with earthy, sweet fruit and rather firm tannins. Medium length finish. Accessible now, but no hurry. Drinks way above its price point.
