Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes-Dessus

Slightly too old but still lovely. A layer of honey, sherry, almonds in the nose, mild melons and mellow oxidation in the palate atop all the descriptions of this wine when it was younger. Getting lean and astringent - drink now if you have it.

Another beautiful showing of this bottle. No traces of oxidation in sight at all. Nice tension, minrality and beautiful balance with ripe fruit. Too bad it's my last bottle...

Strong lemon scent and taste at first, mellowing into a very nice mix of lemon-lime, smoke, polished stone, vanilla. Sweet floral notes as well. Good length. Sharper and a little brighter than other Girardin Meursaults I have had. Less evolved than I would have thought for 2009 Meursault. Full bodied and heady after about 1/2 hr of air.

I'm impressed, smooth 3 dimensional shift, from oak to citrus to minerality. Long finish. Fully mature with an hour of breathing time.

Perfumed notes of lemon oil, ripe kumquats, hazelnut, sweet spices, some butter, honey and beautiful minerality. It's medium-full bodied with medium-high acidity providing a lot of freshness. Long and pretty complex finish with lots of minerality again. A very pretty mineral-driven Meursault with excellent balance of fruit and minerality/freshness.

Rich and buttery with decent crisp fruits.

During a tasting. Medium yellow. Classic Chard nose with oak, vanilla but also white fruit and minerals. Nice mid mouth presence with good weight and acidity.

Explosive aromatics of hazelnut, sweet spices, buttery notes, honey, but also a beautiful mineral vein cutting through the richness. It's medium-full bodied with medium-high acidity providing a lot of freshness. Long and pretty complex finish with lots of minerality again. A very pretty mineral-driven Meursault that has amazing balance of fruit and minerality/freshness.

Deeper bright honey golden color. All of the nose, palate and even mere color of the wine came to life after some breathing time and time to warm up after being in the chiller for a half hour. What was an initially discouraging nose became much more alive filled with perfumed nuts and citrus. Wonderful mouthfeel. Appearance: Clear wine with a medium lemon colour - medium viscosity Nose: Clean with a Medium+ intensity. Wine is showing both primary, secondary and tertiary notes and is therefore developing. Strong notes of ripe peach and pear are complimented with an understone of lemon citrus. Some developing notes of banana and honey suggest bottle age whilst malolactic fermentation is clear from the pronounced creamy smell - verified on the palate. A bit oaky but what a great nose. Decanted and consumed over 1 1/2 hours, the wine getting better every minute. Mid-full bodied white that gives and gives. Fun wine and a little heady (buzzy).

Stunning. Fresh and acidic cut to deep buttery Chardonnay fruit. Gorgeous. And improving.

Initial acidity but dairy takes over and has long rounded fruity finish. Young but still very good.

This is good wine. Ana notes it has everything you could want. And yes, it definately does.
