Barone Montalto Sicilia Grillo Sauvignon Blanc

This is jolly well made. In fact it is quite exciting! Early picking avoids any overripeness in the Sauvignon Blanc, but it is very expressive with a clear note of salinity on the nose, the tropical fruit is delightfully pure and vibrant, with subtle grassy notes and a tight, citrussy backbone from the Grillo, gently creamy texture, minerally backbone, very good floral persistence. A lovely wine, clean and bright, and an outperformer at its very modest price level.
